This was the first one I ever got and remember the best was the Star Wars micro collection Hoth playset.

That's how I always pictured her from the radio drama, to be brutally honest.

Some toy collecting magazine hung the name "monkey leia" on that hideous thing. I can only imagine what Carrie must have thought! Leia looks rather mannish.

Interestingly, the POTF Leia was one of the hardest figure to find... at least in my town.

This was always my favorite, but looking back on it for the first time in more than two decades and it's pretty lame.

i liked that it came with a green dionaga, though.  I felt cool knowing what that thing looked like.

This was my favorite toy growing up simply because it had different levels, and you do multiple things with it with the action figures.  And the machine gun at the top level was cool too.

My second favorite toy was the Millenium Falcon, as it showed every detail on the ship.

I remember my mom throwing all of my SW action figures away in either the summer of 84 or 85 when nobody thought they would be worth anything!  :-(

I love how the catalog called him Chewbacca the Space Wookiee, as if there were other kinds of Wookiees.

I have this on my wall, and it still has a coolness factor.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

Yes, the death star playset was my fave as well. loved the foam garbage and green monster in the trash compactor!! still have it around here someplace, along with the action figures in the darth vader head carry case.

Also love my plush chewbacca with plastic bandolier from the 70s. Could never watch one of the movies without him (hey, i was about 6 when they first came out) :)

That massive (but still small) Kenner die cast metal Star Destroyer.

My favorite ship design of the movies was the Star Destroyer and as a kid the only version I saw was the seven inch or so chunk of metal. Lost the little plastic Tantive IV it came with immediately, but I was totally okay with that.

As time has gone on I've lost that original ship as well. Now I just have my bigger plastic Collector Fleet version. Not so nostalgic for it however.

I had a 2nd-hand one of those. Half the stickers were ripped off, the tow-cable gun was missing and light-up bits didn't work but it was still good :-) It looked like one of the more accurate Kenner ships

To slightly take my own thread off-topic...

I've got a 2-year-old-ish nephew with Christmas/Birthday approaching and I was thinking "What better time to indoctrinate him early into Star Wars!" with the new films coming next year :-)

So I was looking around for what kind of '2-3 year old' merch was available. This 9" 'talking' Chewbacca plush seemed the best bet...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtDh9MuGATY

It seems have been recently repackaged with non-PT artwork which is nice.

Any other suggestions? Something that will be in the ST (So not Yoda for example)

This is the first time in 26 years I'm thinking "I want THAT for Christmas!!!"

Why am I all misty eyed all of a sudden?

The Disney Store has a great Chewbacca plush for about $20.  Its 18 inches. There is also a TaunTaun and Wampa.

Thanks. Oddly I didn't think of the Disney store. It's very hard to navigate. Still they've got Darth Vader PJs for 2 year olds. Come to think of it, he enjoyed waving round a lightsaber that another kid had at a wedding a few months ago, so that might be the obvious choice :-)

That one was lots of fun. I always liked the little details like all the bootprints in the snow. It also complemented the Turret and Probot playset.

It was great Kenner moved away from those sets that were mostly cardboard. Kenner recycled that "Land of The Jawas" base one time too many.

It's a shame they never did a proper Carbon Freeze chamber outside the Micro Collection. And that cardboard one that was a Sears' exclusive doesn't count. ;)

Mine was the Millennium Falcon. It was the biggest toy I had and it had some great adventures.

My Death Star playset and Millennium Falcon probably got the most use.  I loved holding the Falcon by its front landing strut, balancing the ship on my arm, and "flying" it up and down the hallway.

Also loved this, especially the foam "swamp" which you can see Artoo sinking in in the picture.  Many a figure disappeared into that dark pit :)

My Sideshow 1/6 scale Darth Vader figure based on his original 1977 appearance has been my favorite thing in my Star Wars collection for a number of years now. I modified the helmet slightly so the dome sits more accurately to how it appeared in the movie (out of the box they had it mounted far too high and tilted too far forward).

I'm quite fond of the sandtrooper next to him as well, but Vader is tops.
