Well, this is getting interesting isn't it? It's the ABC cut except for the elevator scene. Saw it on ThisTv this morning before rushing off.

I'm guessing someone at Paramount put in the alternate take before handing off a tape to ABC, and presumably muted the end of David's "You Son of a Bitch!" line. ABC could have made a snip or two on their own, but they likely couldn't put in a alternate take.

Someone is going to have to watch the ABC and ThisTv versions side by side to catch any other slight differences.

To the best of my memory, the TWOK credits are simply squeezed, at least they were on the ABC. As they played out over a starfield and not live action footage, there would have been no need to reformat the titles.

The older Trek films are being syndicated by a distributor I've not heard of before. (I saw their logo on the end of a showing of Nemesis a few months back.) Somebody clearly grabbed the wrong tape in the vault.

Whatever preservation comes of out of this is probably going to have to use a bit of everything.
