Speaking for myself here, I don't want to see a rush job. I want to see a quality job. If that means waiting a really long time, I will wait. I would rather be able to sit down 5 years from now and watch something beautiful, than sit in 5 minutes and look at garbage.

The views are a lie.  And I'm not joking, I've seen massive view jumps on my threads in no time, with no real explanation.

After each new reply to a thread, people who have already viewed the thread have a reason to view it again. For example, suppose a forum only has 10 members, and they all religiously view each new thread at least once a day, and when they see a new reply, they always view it again to read the new reply. If someone posts a thread and no one replies, it will have 10 views. If on the next day, someone replies to the thread, it will then soon have 20 views, and so on. This is why you see the "massive view jumps on [your] threads in no time"; it happens after a new reply has been posted and a bunch of people check out the new reply.

To get a rough idea of how many different people have been following a thread, divide the number of posts in the thread by the number of views.

We are quietly making progress with almost 4 reels done now. Hopefully we will have some new previews to show.

As our hardware has improved, we are rescanning the entire LPP print at a higher resolution. This should not impact the current work being done, but might also speed up some of the work on the rest of the print.

Will post more information and possibly some previews once we get it.

Our initial scans had a few scenes that will benefit from a higher resolution and the new process.

What resolution are you scanning at?

Previously it was at 2k, and now we can do 4k. But we always downsample it to make the files reasonable to work with.

So, the resulting restoration will be 2K but sourced mostly from 4K scans? Sounds good to me :-)

Are you swapping the sources and re-rendering the work you've already finished before or are you keeping those parts from the 2K scan?

The previously completed work will remain. However, there are a few scenes that had some smearing, and other issues that will benefit that will be redone.

No, that's not what happened.

Okay, well, whatever happened there is bizarre. I don't think that's happened in this thread though. This thread has roughly 100 followers, which isn't unusual for this section of the forum.

Frink used his jedi mind powers to trick the thread into viewing itself so many times that it got addicted to itself.  It then became obsessed with Frink.

The latest update I got on this for Reel 3 was:

"In other news, Reel 3 just past the 80% done mark. Approx. 6300 frames left."

Hopefully, we will have some previews of it.

That still leaves Parts of Reels 1, 6 to do along with some of Reel 4.

I think that when someone is truly into a production, they tend to make it a labor of love. Not rushing and being meticulous. That is why I am saying it.

So maybe you should have said that the first time?

Because what you said the first time still makes no sense.

Here is a sample from Reel 4, from the scene where Ben, Luke, Han and the robots hide in the room from the other stormtroopers:

NOTE : There is still flicker on the walls, we are testing ways of reducing it.

It looks great actually, I noticed a little flicker but isn't that part of the 35mm frames rolling? To me it looks so classic that I kinda like it... unless you are referring to some other flicker that I missed

Why is the picture so blurry? Is it that the print is lacking the fine detail or are you not scanning the frames in a good enough focus? Because to me it looks fuzzy and lacks detail you'd expect to see in a 35mm print.

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.
