Well, Star Wars was sold on all the old technology when it was still "cutting edge". If I remember right, Star Wars was on tape pretty early, as well as beta, and then laserdisc as well. It wasn't until George got weird that Star Wars got so horribly delayed with new formats, like not being released on DVD until F'ing 2004! Same with not being on blu ray until what, late 2011? Now that competent business people are running Star Wars I see no reason why Star Wars wouldn't be one of the first titles on a new home video format.
