On the contrary, there are a number of classic films that I am not a fan of, but it would bother me deeply if they weren't preserved. I think that it's more about many people not seeing any importance in films other than just for their entertainment value.

For some, the art of preservation is sometimes more important or entertaining than being a fan of the medium itself. Speaking as someone who restores arcade cabinets, I'm sure the concept is the same. :P
