Harmy's THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Despecialized Edition HD - V2.0 - MKV & AVCHD (Released) — Page 109

I listened to a few minutes of those tracks. Setting aside the low quality, they are really distracting to listen to b/c of the abrupt volume change during the narration.

I think this makes for most unpleasant listening experience, especially for someone who would be entirely experiencing the film through their ears...how it sounds will be important. I say find someone with a good voice and re-record it.

Ok, so this is the 2004 LD version?  No problem - I'll make it work. :)

2004 LD version? Huh?

Also, I am impatiently waiting for the possible 97se respecialized.

Wow, that seems kinda rude. I'm sure that will come after Team Blu's ESB:SE is released.

Didn't mean to be rude. How do I put this?

The despecialized 2.0 of ESB is awesome for what it is. There are just certain parts of the SE which I..liked...more......

I don't see much point in preserving the tracks in their current state--they exist for accessibility, and if better accessibility can be achieved by re-recording the voiceover, I'm all for that.  Don't we have a few forum members with silky-smooth radio voices?  Mavimao?

 Aww! You're too nice.

What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

IMO for the ESB, the 1997se is the best *official* version. Original Emperor *dialogue*, original Fett voice, along with the improved music cues the SEs (if ESB was a video game, the star destroyer music cues would be in beta in their original form) provide. My main complaints of the 97se are relatively minor, including luke's scream and the added scenes of vader entering and exiting his shuttle. As for ANH and ROTJ, I would like to make a personal quasi-specialized edit of the former. As for the latter, the only changes I liked are the recomposited shots. Jedi Rocks and the new celebration scene (to speak nothing of the 2004 and 2011 changes) both stink. Thus, for ROTJ i am impatiently waiting for the despecialized 2.0 :P

I'm thinking of making my own personal fan edit of ESB once Adywans ESB revisited comes out (only for the revised emperor scene). For the most part, it would be framed like ADigitalMan's esb edit.

But enough about my opinions, we should get back on topic. I still don't know what 2004 LD's are.

Watched it again tonight, still can't believe how good it looks. When you print your own covers it looks physically better than the retail version too. I'm pretty loaded right now so the pics look blurry, they're actually razor sharp though. Thanks to Video Collector for the awesome cover art (his are for the AVCHD version so I just altered the specs column on the back to reflect the BD version and added the BD logo to the spine) and to Harmy for the disc art.

For those wondering what types of discs those are they're Falcon Professional BD-R Smart Guard Water Resistant Inkjet Hub Printable discs. I've been printing directly to discs for years, and not only are those the best quality discs as far as longevity and perfect burn quality are concerned, they're literally waterproof and the quality of the printing surface is pretty much unmatched. Most shit you print yourself you can smudge just by running your finger across it, but not those. Best discs I've ever used... they're BD's but that includes DVD's and CD's and everything.

Stinky Dinkins, I've got those same covers, but I don't know what that inside art is. What is it?

They're some art I found in another thread on here a while back. I'm more than a little buzzed so I have no clue what thread it was, but I think it was some Japanese manga art or something? Makes for a fucking killer interior cover though.  I saved the images when I found them because I liked the way they looked, here are the links if you want 'em:

Those are the full-sized images as I found them, so you just have to crop 'em a little bit if you're going to make them BD cover-sized.

Here's links to all of them in Hires (Jedi and Star Wars are low res in the above links)

What are you talking about? Those are the exact same pictures? The pictures I linked have identical dimensions to the ones you linked. None of the stuff I linked are low res.

Soooo....  should I continue extracting the narration out of this 2004 ESB track and normalize everything at the end or just forget it?

I'd say effort is better spent transcribing it.  We don't have a "new narration" plan yet, but it seems the way to go, and a script would help.

Well, I figure also that with the narration silenced on this track once Im done, whoever re-narrates it will have lower-volume gaps to speak over just like the original once I merge the current track into it...or whatever track you guys want to use for the narration. (shrug)

Currently, I'm just using the 2.0 stereo as a marker and have it sync'd up to the narration track and am just removing the narrated voice out of it.

At least on my end, your links for Star Wars and Jedi are 1024x685 rather than the 1730x1146 that Empire is.

They're definitely 1730X1146 (I think SW and Jedi are slightly bigger than that actually.) It's your browser settings. When you first open them up your browser won't show them full-size, depending on what browser you use - something like IE will do that. So, after you open them up click on them to make them full-size. The ones you linked will do the exact same thing, because they're identical files. Your browser must be auto-sizing them to fit your screen dimensions.

Figured it out. If i click the link it redirects to "imagizer.imageshack.us" which gives me a low-res preview image (For Star Wars and Jedi, but strangely not not Empire). If I change the domain to "img242.imageshack.us," then it gives me the full-res file. Same in Chrome and Firefox. Imageshack is odd.

That's odd, and kind of annoying that Imageshack would re-direct.

Ok, well - if anyone needs the ESB 2004SE narrative track without the voice in it, let me know.  I completed it and sync'd it with the DE.

Had to do some editing around the emperor's voice, Lando's intercom speech intro, Boba Fett's voice, and an extra stance in the score at the end of the credits.  A few others I can't remember right now, but anyway....

it's available if needed.

Really bizarre change here, I'd never noticed it before but I was looking at a complete list of changes and saw this. I have no clue what the motivation was for doing this but you'll see that Luke and the thing he's holding on to are further to the left of the frame. Can't wait to see it moved back to normal in the next version of Despecialized Empire.

Life has been insane lately. Can't believe I missed that this has been out!!! Randomly checked in on the SW thread, but have had so much going on lately, that I haven't had time to browse the *entire* forum for a long, long time. Constant work. Constant work at home... Time to relax with this very soon!

Not sure how I missed this, but am super excited and thankful to be able to enjoy this soon!

Those cases / printed discs look great, Stinky!

I've been hunting for a good disc for this purpose, as I'd still really like to help with .."a few of"... these when the time is right for SW, as well as this. Already have the cases, so the rest should be easy enough to get together.

Harmy, you've made my day (a month or so after this has apparently existed...). Appreciate all you do!

Now, when this finishes, I think I'm going to watch it at least twice tomorrow!
