If I had to guess from these previously noted YouTube videos ..

.. I'd say we couldn't get that fullscreen cutting into the matte area of the widescreen if it was a hard matte -- unless the documentary and/or the laserdisc did some cropping on it's own widescreen.

Are there any matching shots to compare the new 35mm trailer to the available documentary and/or laserdisc caps?
