At one point I stopped the process in mid-conversion and had a partially completed m4v file for STAR WARS--roughly the first 9 minutes of the movie, and on a whim, I tested it out. It loaded into iTunes just fine--but of course, it was just the first 9 minutes. Then, when I went back in to convert the whole movie as a whole, I once again ran into the same problem I've been having all along.  The m4v version, upon completion of conversion, seems to be unplayable. 

I'm thinking something in the original files is somehow corrupted or damaged, but I wouldn't be able to figure out what it is, or how to fix it.

Hate to bother everyone, but I just got the Despecialized edition (Which has completely floored me with it's quality, by the way) through Jdownloader and the .mkv file keeps crashing around the 15:45 mark. I tried seeing if skipping past would but the file would crash at any point beyond 15:45. I haven't used Jdownloader before, so i'm not sure how to proceed. I'm using VLC player to watch the movie and running MacOS. If anyone could help out, that'd be totally awesome!

 This happens when not all the parts have been downloaded correctly. If you still have the .part files, check to see if all but the last one are the same size. If you find that, redownload that part and put them back together again.

If you deleted the .part files, I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry, but you're going to have to redownload them all again. Just check to see if their sizes match.

 Just checked, the last part was indeed smaller (everything was 500MB, it was 340ish). I'm re-downloading the last part now. Hopefully it'll work. Thanks for your help! You are and ever shall be, my friend.

I sent Hairy_Hen some thoughts about soundtracks for a possible mp4 file.

Harmy, I downloaded a 720p copy of Raiders of the Lost Ark from iTunes. The total bitrate is 4651 at 3.85 GB, just for reference as to what Apple packages. That's with three soundtracks (AAC English, Dolby Digital English, French).

In MD5, do I choose "Get a Checksum of a file" or do I choose "Compare file with checksum"?

Okay--through MD5, the checksum for the file is e52cc005e48931ef3df336361dd1a142, which is identical to the one that's in the first post.

I am now officially lost--and my head is spinning!  :-)

Just a thought, has the file size for Star Wars crept above 4GB?

By Default, HandBrake outputs MP4 files with 32-bit chunk offset atoms (stco). This means that if the file grows above 4GB, it will be rendered useless.
Enabling this option [large file size] will force HandBrake to use 64-bit chunk offset atoms (co64), however some devices do not support this.

Jim Kirk - did you ever think about using XBMC/Kodi? It should be available for apple devices too (I'm not sure on what are you trying to watch it that it doesn't support mkv)

Right. My thought was just that you might want to try to hit a target that people already expect with respect to file size if they're going to be putting them on like phones storage space considerations. Something in the 4-6 GB range or so.

If you wind up deciding to do an mp4 version, I can volunteer to help make sure it gets all the metadata iTunes wants so it looks pretty when you browse for it, and I can figure out if the game systems have particular needs.

Last night I spent about an hour with my brother in-law comparing all the various fan restorations and I have to say, Harmy v2.5 won, hands down. Some of the others were quite good, but on a large screen (in this case 72 inches) the v2.5 Harmy was noticeable superior when it came to detail. And this was via the AVCHD. I can imagine the MKV would look even better (duh). 

So far seven of the people who received my v2.5 AVCHD gifts have either sampled or watched and been blown away. 

I am looking forward to JEDI being updated since it's the one in need of the most work. But hey, STAR WARS fans have had to learn to be patient, so this is no big deal. :)

Thank you Harmy for your effort, I had a wonderful video evening with my family. This is the best version of SW I've seen until now. The force is with you, always!

I re-downloaded the last part and put it back in the package using jdownloader, but the mkv is still crashing. I've never used jdownloader before, so i'm not sure if i'm doing everything right. Any advice on the matter would be excellent.

Update: Just noticed that Jdownloader doesn't seem to have extracted or merged the files.  The parts are all still individual .rar files. 

Some people report problems using jdownloader to unrar rars.  Try 7-zip.

 Listen to Frink, Conquistador, and let us know if that helps. Also, the last part is supposed to be smaller, like Harmy said earlier. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

 Just tried it. It keeps giving me a write error. I've still got plenty of space on my HDD and i'm inputting the password though, so i'm not sure what's causing it. @Handman, the file is the correct size now, I believe. My thanks to you and Harmy for pointing that out. 

What's the exact error message? Also did you type in the password or did you just highlighted it in your browser and pasted it? Because if you've done it this way you could e.g. copy an additional space or line break after the password

I know of a professional voice actor who said he would be interested in volunteering for this when I asked him on Twitter.  I tried to get him in touch with Harmy, but I'm not sure if he ever made contact or not.  I will follow up.
