Hello.

Thanks for all the hard work you all put into this!

Could I please get a link for all subtitles for the OT?

Thank you very much! :)

First time poster to this forum, but I've been looking everywhere for this and I finally found an amazingly well done upgrade of the unaltered trilogy in Harmy's Despecialized versions :'). On top of that, I figure out that there's someone who took the time to provide subtitles for them!!!

Thanks for ALL the hard work! You're awesome!!

Would I be able to get a link to download the subtitles? I'm not sure if it's possible to just get the SRTs yet, but if it is then I'd prefer that, but it's no problem if not.

Can you help me out? Thanks in advance!

Looks like version 8 is now up on MySpleen.  That should make the downloading easier.

Just verified that our Korean subtitles are the official translations. That should certainly save me some time.

To update everyone on what's cooking for 8.1 (likely timed to match Harmy's Despecialized Jedi 2.0):

- As mentioned earlier, I'm hoping for more progress from Operation Eyestrain.  Thai and Japanese still have one movie apiece that are graphical-only

- "Matching" subtitles for Despecialized Jedi 2.0 (the only thing on my to-do list since day one, finally done!)

- Improved Arabic subtitles. I'm diving in and doing this manually, character-by-character, and it is not easy

- CJK subtitles will use different fonts for their graphical subtitles

- Maybe some new languages.  Slovak is most likely, but you never know what might come along

- Miscellaneous minor updates, I'm sure

The deal with the CJK subtitles and fonts is interesting.  Like I'm sure a lot of Westerners, I believed all I really needed was one good-quality Unicode font and all of my language needs would be met.  As it turns out, even with the best-looking Unicode font out there, you're going to run into problems with CJK characters.

As I'm sure you know, Japanese and Korean use characters of Chinese origin in their writing systems.  The Unicode standard has a "unified CJK" section where these characters are mapped.  The problem is that the characters are often written slightly differently in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, even when there is only one shared character defined in Unicode.  So if you use one Unicode font for everything, it will look a little off for some CJK text.  The solution is to use a different font for each of the four systems, which is what I'll do.

The problem isn't huge, and it's fairly common in the computer age, but there are enough people complaining that the Japanese text on their iPhone looks like it was written by a Chinese speaker, that I figured I'd do my best to avoid annoying people further.  I've heard the problem described as being like if someone reversed every R and N while writing English, but maybe not quite that bad.  It's still completely readable, but it looks wrong, nobody who knew English would ever write it like that, and it gives the text a vaguely Cyrillic feel.

Hey, I want to download the graphical subtitles (English, full) for Harmy's SW 2.5 and ESB 2.0.  I'm looking at the torrent, and of course there's a million files in there, and I don't want to download them all.

Can anyone direct me specifically to the files from the torrent I need to download? Or maybe just PM me a link to download these two files?

Thanks...and thanks for the amazing project.

Your torrent software should let you do this. Mine (Transmission) has a panel that shows you different info about the transfer and one of those tabs is for the files it contains and you can check/uncheck them.

Right...I got that. But I'm just not sure which files I need to select.

Like I said, I'm looking for the graphical subs timed for Harmy's editions, English, full (not just the alien parts).  There are quite a few files there, and I'm not sure which ones match what I'm looking for.

In the 720p folder, get the files called SW-en-native.sup and ESB-en-native.sup, unless you want the SDH subtitles, in which case you get the ones with SDH in the filename.  Grab the README file too if you don't know what to do with them next.

EDIT: to be clear, the "native" subtitles exclude the alien subs, which I assume is what you want. There are also "match" subtitles which are a bit of a gimmick, but if you look at the last screenshot in the first post, you'll see what that looks like.  If you prefer that, then download the -match-DeEdv2 sup files instead.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you!

Project files have been updated to version 8.1 (original post has been updated as well). Please PM me for the temporary download links until the files are available in a more permanent location.

Building on the goals for the 8.x series, I would say Project Threepio now matches or exceeds every known release of the 2011SE worldwide, in terms of quantity and quality. This is a more minor release, but I felt enough significant changes had accumulated to warrant a release.

Rough summary of changes:
- Added one new language: Vietnamese
- Arabic is now based on the official translations
- Changed font for quite a few Asian languages, to improve both appearance and legibility
- Thai subtitles are now available in text format for all three films. Titles files are also available to accompany our new Thai dub for Star Wars
- Miscellaneous minor changes

Huge thanks (again) to Feallan for the Thai transcription work on Star Wars (I doubt he'll volunteer to do that again soon!), and also for helping me get the official Arabic translations.

EDIT: Oh yeah, my new screenshot of Arabic text in the first post perfectly encapsulates my feelings about working with Arabic ("I hope you know what you're doing/Yeah, me too")

Hi,

I burned Harmy's ESB v2.0 on a blu-ray. I used tsMuxer, added the subtitles I want (from Project Threepio) and so created "BDMV" and "CERTIFICATE" folders.

It works, but the subtitles are too big. Sometimes I can't see the beginning and the end, it's off-screen.

Could someone help me ?

Thanks a lot !

Actually, I used the subtitles that Harmy put with the MKV version of ESB v2.0. But I will try again with the 720p subtitles from Project Threepio V8.1.

In tsMuxer, there's is a subtile setup where you can choose the size amongst other things such as color and font, even vertical position.

When burning DeEd to Bluray it's best to just use Catbus's 720p subs. That's what he made them for anyway. :)

Yeah, trying to mess with SRT files is asking for trouble.  Just use the SUP files and be done with it.
