Yeah, unless they run to the foreground and start dancing, they're probably original.

BTW, it is nice to see just how much "bounty hunter scum" got taken out along with Jabba.

The only one smart enough to leave the sail barge before it exploded was Bib Fortuna. According to the Tales From Jabba's Palace.

That's interesting considering that he was weak-minded enough to fall for Luke's JediMindTrick™.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

Bad enough Fett was inexplicably hanging around long after delivering Solo.

And Bossk was a gentleman amongst scum! ;)

Where were you in '77?

Yes, it is being worked on now. Scroll up for more details.

The Despecialized restorations are at 720p because that is what the Blu-ray transfers practically resolve to.

“That’s impossible, even for a computer!”

“You don't do ‘Star Wars’ in Dobly.”

Bossk and Dengar were always in the Movie.

Hey, I watched my unaltered "Faces" release of the tapes this weekend with a family member; they'd never seen the trilogy before, but they wanted to, so I figured I'd make sure they saw them right, and I don't have the Despecialized Editions on a disc so I had to break out the almighty VHS tapes. Anyway, something I noticed in Jedi that made me go back to the Despecialized Edition to compare was Sebastian Shaw's ghost at the end. He looks very transparent in the Despecialized Edition, while Obi-Wan and Yoda don't look too clear at all, and I didn't think Shaw looked that transparent on the tape either, but I guess it could've had something to do with my TV or something. Does this have something to do with the source Shaw came from in the Despecialized version, or was it somehow changed in the SE? It's also possible that my eyes are just completely screwing with me, but I figured I'd mention this just in case since every change counts when trying to get the DeEd's as close to the OUT as possible.

Is the Rancor going to be restored, or would that not be possible with the available sources?

Not with the currently available sources but I'm hoping for better ones down the line, so if I get them, the original Rancor will definitely be restored and I'm looking forward to it.

Something I noticed in version 1.0 of Jedi is that around 37:02 into the movie the first group of 4 TIE fighters that come from behind the camera are supposed to vanish about 1 second before the scene cuts to the Emperor's shuttle landing in the hangar. This is how it was in the unaltered version, and I'm not sure if this is a change that too many people are aware of, but I noticed it when I was young and always pointed it out so I was rather devastated when they "fixed" it in the SE. Sorry to keep bumping this thread with questions and observations, but I've always been rather fascinated by Jedi since I love it so much. I've probably seen it more than the other two (except for Wars maybe) even though it's by far the worst of the three in my opinion.

I love the disappearing TIE fighters, when we watch in a group someone always points this out just before the scene change.  We have done this as far back as I can remember.

Does this mean that it's going to be like in the SE, or are you just going to use the GOUT?

Yes absolutely, I can't wait to see them disappear again in V2.0 of Jedi

EDIT: Something else I was wondering was how did you get rid of the blinking Ewoks? I've never seen the blu ray so I don't know how often they blinked or how consistent the blinking change was, but did you just use the HDTV '04 version for all of the Ewok scenes?

V1.0 was made before the BDs came out and yes, for v2.0 that is the plan - replace all the BD additions with the 2004SE.

Author
Time

By that do you mean you'll replace specific frames of blinking or whole scenes that contain blinking with 2004SE?

Author
Time

Whole scenes/shots. The quality of the German broadcasts is almost indistinguishable from the BD anyway.

Author
Time

For 2.0 will the end celebration be left the way it was in V 1, or are you using footage from 35mm for that as well? Also, sorry if I'm asking this in the wrong place, but what is the plan once Jedi is finished, will you go back to Star Wars or Empire, or take a much-deserved break for a while?

The Person in Question

I will simply use whatever best quality footage I have at my disposal.

As to the plan afterwards, there is none right now - I will cross that bridge when I come to it :)
