It would be cool to have professional "documentary" voiceover, but paying anyone to do it shouldn't be considered.

Harmy said:

Yeah, I don't like that idea either.

Ok, understood. Is this because of $ considerations (i.e. who pays) or because of the principal of keeping it fan-based? (as I can work to take care of the former). Just curios on that point.

I honestly hadn't considered doing any of it myself, but I guess I could submit something as a test too. Potentially could even put out the call for if anyone has that kind of voice to submit a clip and you could take your pick :)

Why do I have to keep repeating myself? THE SOUND IS VERY MUCH TEMPORARY - the is no music yet, except where it plays a direct role in what is being said or shown (or where it was already finished from the old Sources Doc).

@Tobar: The "drowned music" example is essential, because it's not about the sound effects but about the score (two different Oscar wins being disrupted).

Good point about the thesis though.

@pitpawten: Yeah, it's more about this staying a fan effort.

Heck, maybe we should drop the Honest Trailers guy a line, that would certainly be a hilariously epic direction to take things.

I just took a look at the new documentary, and it's very good! I quite enjoyed it. I just have one suggestion:

When you mention recompositing in your "interview", you only show the early 90s Czech VHS. Instead, why not show an example of recompositing in the film to better demonstrate your point? I can't offer a good example other than lightsabers that would be readily apparent to the average viewer, but I'm sure you can come up with one.

Hey, all.

I noticed, while resynchronizing my subtitles, that your Team Blu's GOUT upscale is one frame shorter than Harmy's Despecialized Edition, and yet you seem to have both used the same audio tracks, right? So, I wondered if some resynchronizing job was done or if one of the two releases went out of sync from this point at around frame number 144053 or 144054.

Team Blu on top, Harmy below :

The one-frame difference is already known (discussed on the last page), apparently an error of some sort.

EDIT: Whoops, this is Star Wars we're talking about, so the error hasn't been acknowledged before. I don't know which one has the error, but they should match.

So SW has the error too?

Harmy, any chance of uploading a "fixed" SW DeEd whenever you release ESB 2.5? Maybe a SW 2.6? No rush seeing as it's barely, if at all, perceptible... but it would be nice to have the most perfect versions out there in an official capacity.

Yeah, no. Maybe when there's more to update than just cutting out one frame near the end of the movie.

Yeah.  I checked, and frame 144053 of Harmy's 2.5 is not present in the GOUT.   This frame looks very familiar:  I'm fairly sure it's in the PAL GOUT but missing from the NTSC.

If you really want to work around this in the meantime, you could mux all the audio on something like a .030 sec, which would make everything "off", but by less than the ITU minimum offsets in both directions.

That said, I think the ITU standards are crazy about this. 1 frame is unnoticeable.

Okay, maybe I am imagining things, but I could have sworn someone was hosting a Harmy Star Wars V2.5 on DVD5. True? No true?

I have some friends who are stuck in the era of DVD and plenty of DVD5 blanks.

Many thanks.

SW 2.5.1 if 2.6 is too big a jump?

Okay I see it. Looks like only via Mega. Bummer. I can't seem to download anything from them these days. No clue what the deal is. it just doesn't work.

Would love a torrent. Would be happy to seed it.

Have you tried using one of the auto-downloaders?  Jdownloader is one, can't remember the name of the others.  Also, if you're trying to do it direct though your browser, make sure you use Chrome.  Mega isn't as friendly with other browsers.

Yes, sir. Chrome. For some reason it just errors. I will see what Jdownloader is about. Thanks for the tip.

EDIT: Well that ain't gonna happen. It's bundled with Astromenda, which is a browser hijacker pup bs. It's getting to the point where everything has this crap which means I can't install anything.

Make sure you get jdownloader2, make sure you do a custom install at each step, and deselect any add-ons it wants to install.

JEDIT: I just tried one of the links through chrome and had no problem.  Seems like something on your end.  If it makes you feel any better, I'm apparently the only one who can't download from uloz anymore ;-)

Well Harmy, a link to that "Star Wars George Lucas Doesn't Want You To See" article was on MSN for a while today! Dunno why they didn't give it a full 24 hour cycle, maybe they will later.

It’s really sad when the “creative minds” behind something we hold dear are also guilty of its destruction.

The issue is the way its worded is contrary so you don't know if you are or not installing without it. Hell i'm a writer and I cannot figure what's what this this installer and they do that on purpose.

I can't take the risk. I just can't. My system is my life. Despite my always being careful about two years ago I got one of those stupid hijackers and it completely nuked my system. I had to wipe and start over which cost me time and money. Real money. Rent money. Hell, it was a complete disaster for me.

My ImgBurn is from years ago. I'll never EVER touch their updated versions. No thanks. I'll stick with the pre-BS version from years ago.

You need the AWESOME Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Premium).  I installed the latest Imgburn and Malwarebytes immediately removed the malware from it.

I actually have that. But I still can't take the risk. :)

When you go through what I did and lose money, sleep and damn near go insane, you don't take risks. It's bad enough that I use uTorrent. Man am i careful with it. You techie geniuses will think me paranoid, but I have to be.

Wow - you sound like you really need some backup software.  I have Acronis backup my whole C drive every Sunday night to an external drive.  So if I run into a problem, I've only lost (at max) a week's worth of changes on my main drive.

^Yep.  I use Cobian Gravity, but regardless, just back everything up and stop worrying.

Or don't.

Anyway, and almost on-topic, uloz suddenly seems to be working for me again.  Huh.
