Glad to this getting some attention!
A German website also reported about Harmy's Despecialized Edition.

Rogue One is redundant. Just play the first mission of DARK FORCES.

Well done Harmy.
Perhaps this would have been better placed on one of the despecialised threads??

No. This is too cool. Top forum!
hey boost et al, hope you've been well.
nice to see Harmy get recognition - thats a pretty cool video too. In the last couple years, demand for OOT has increased substantially.
The comments are interesting - looks like its from people froma variety of backgrounds and perspectives. One common denominator is that regardless of what one thinks of the changes, or if changes should be allowed - people for the most part feel that the OOT should always be available.
And again, today.
Well, check us out; ;-)
There are huge lists of these inconsistencies online at places like SaveStarWars.com and OriginalTrilogy.com, where fans dissect the films and point out discrepancies.

If your crop is water, what, exactly, would you dust your crops with?
Well. One could almost mistake this for market agitation as a precursor to an official release...
The amount of attention the OUT has gotten online the past summer is more than it's had at any one point in time that I can remember, and the fact that they're talking about Harmy so much also shows that there are plenty of people willing to go out of their way to see the original cuts of the trilogy.
The Person in Question
The Yahoo Finance article is quite good -- manages to accurately catch some of the fine points.

Yeah, I answered a few of her questions over the phone and then I sent her the video I posted recently and a lot of useful links, like some of the savestarwars.com articles and stuff :-)
You certainly deserve the recognition Harmy. Congrats!
Plus one to that. Great to see the work recognized On such a large scale.
This is exactly why I tend to err on the side of using a short leash on trolling and the arguing that belongs in Off Topic. We aren't the nerds in the basement anymore (not that this board ever really was).
Our voices are being heard, the truth is finally being told, and our members are talented film restorationists (sp) and published authors. The landscape has changed significantly the past few years. We have the floor now. Time to use it wisely, as Harmy and Kaminski have.
"Illegal"?!?!?!?
Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

Illegal, immoral, fattening, and in the opinion of one person at a forum I won't name, equivalent to blackmail. ;)
Where were you in '77?

"I will make it illegal".
Harmy deserves every bit of this. I'm glad that the word is getting out in a big way.

(It hasn’t happened yet)
I'm expecting it.
I don't even...
From the comments section of this article:
"I highly recommend YOU do some research at SaveStarWars.com and OriginalTrilogy.com before making unfounded claims"
The problem with doing "research" there is that they are just a bit biased on the whole situation. They would have you believe the SE's are vile and substandard and a desecration.
One of the major reasons why the SE's exist is because the film stock FAILED. If the film stock had been stronger then all the restoration they had to do to save it wouldn't have been necessary. In part because it was such a disaster is the reason why the SE's came about. Even then Lucas was only interested in a few fixes at first but spurred by Dennis Muren and FOX's willingness to foot the bill (to get the prequel distribution)many more changes were added.
Of course their is so much misinformation about the SE's and the myth that it was "All CG" which of course is nonsense. It was CG plus models, miniatures, mattes, live action shooting etc. Much of the SE's was restoration going back to the original film elements and recompositing them to match and surpass the originals like the Hoth sequences where the matte lines and see through the frames of the speeders.
I would love for the "original" originals to come out with all their flaws and dated look so that people could see what they really were like. They were great for their time but they are dated and the visual language of film has moved on. I expect that if the theatrical versions ever do come out I expect that they will be akin to official versions of the DE's to make them as people remember them not as they actually were.
They're not wrong. If the SE wasn't the only version, I wouldn't think it's "vile and substandard and a desecration."

The comment that the person defending the SE's wrote didn't really make sense either though. They just said that the unaltered versions would never be released because of Lucas. The article even thinks that Star Wars will never be released again because of the distribution rights.
The Person in Question
That fellow probably wouldn't be caught dead watching any movie made before 2000. ;)

So, if the filmstock failed, and the SE's look so great, where does that guy think those 2 hours of images that comprise the SE came from?

My favorite part is:
the visual language of film has moved on.
This guy has no clue what he's talking about, but he really wants to sound like he does :D
