Other than Jar Jar and midichlorians, what don't you want in episode 7? — Page 6

The prequels don't involve Force users becoming Imperials.

They didn't? Then I don't know what movies I was watching then.

I'm not going to parse semantics in any case.

I don't want to see another superweapon, at least not in the first film. That would try to parallel the first film too much IMO.

and I'll never get the hypocrites who think that the Empire returning is worse than the Sith returning.

Well Empire returning is just as bad as Sith returning.

I understand thinking that it's just as bad. What I don't understand is thinking that it's worse.

Sith returning I can see as being possible.

True.

For Sith to return it takes just a single force user to start calling himself a "Sith".

While Empire was a very complex structure consisting of countless words, people and sub-organisations.

So purely from the plausibility perspective, Empire returning is indeed much worse than Sith returning.

Take a look at the subsequent posts. I point out that it's just as easy for someone to start calling themselves an "Imperial".

The difference is that if some force user starts calling himself a "Sith" it essentially classify as Sith return, while even if an entire planet/sector starts calling themselves "Imperial" it would not come even close to Empire return.

Even if it's not the Empire returning, Imperials can return.

I'd rather we don't get people deciding to call themselves a "Sith" or an "Imperial". It's a cheap and contrived way to bring back a dead faction. If they want Sith or Imperials to appear, I'd rather that they be connected to those of I-VI.

Well I am not a fan of either returning. I was just arguing against your original statement.

If someone decides to call themselves a "Sith", I'll walk out of the theater, throw away my Star Wars stuff, and cease to be a Star Wars fan.

Don't you think that is a bit silly. It is like if someone stopped being a fan of Star Wars because PT was awful.

If they need a surviving enemy from I-VI, there's always the dark side. One can easily use the dark side without calling themselves a "Sith", and I can't imagine anybody complaining about new dark side users not being called "Sith".

The Sith are a core part of Star wars at this point, I would hope they or at least some Dark side element would be apart of the film. Maybe an undiscovered Sith sect, or something unconnected with the Banite line or an Empire in general.

(in an Obi-Wan voice) That's what the prequels told you.

Or better yet, a dark side organization with no connection to the Sith.

I could live with an unconnected Dark side organization. Would be great to see a Dark side using Gungan for once.

Yeah, I rather would have another Dark-side villain rather than the Sith. Heck if I had a crack at it, I would have made Palpatine a Dark-sider that only affiliated with the Sith for their knowledge and powers and took them for himself, combining it with Jedi and other Force teachings across the Galaxy. He would have been Dark Lord but once he had an apprentice he gave up on the title to them (Which would also explain why Vader is called Dark Lord of the Sith rather than Palpatine.)

There's nothing to contradict this in any of the six movies. In fact, I think that the OT supports this theory. Palpatine is never called "Lord" in the OT and the word "Sith" is never used in the OT, the latter suggesting that the Empire replaced the Sith.

Ah so you think that the part with him being originally Dark Lord is not needed basically?

I guess, but I'm not exacly sure what you're asking.

I don't want The Force to be too powerful. This means no flipping and no planet-destroying.

finally saw guardians of the galaxy today. thoroughly enjoyed it. very funny. the whole time i was thinking it was marvel superheroes crossed with star wars. and then i remembered this comment on this thread. considering GOTG was a lot of fun, i would be happy with a star wars movie even better than that. :)

The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force.

Having said that, where did someone use the force to destroy a planet?

The EU has Darth Nihilus. Vader's "insignificant" comment clearly wasn't intended to refer to raw power.

You're not part of the Star Wars canon. Does that mean you don't exist?
