Time for an update...

I received additional pics from the seller and, as a result, I'm feeling much better about this transaction. More about this later in a new thread.

I found something very intriguing in the pics he sent. I can't find this frame anywhere in the film. It's Blondie in the desert but I'm not having any luck in finding this particular frame. Maybe I'm just missing it.

Anyone??

Intriguing indeed! It could be a missing bit. I checked all the sources I have and it doesn't seem to show up in any of them. I'm sure I would recognize the rocks/bones. If I had to guess, it appears that it occurs when Tuco and Blondie are walking on the first hill in the desert sequence:

which goes from them both being on the hill dissolving to Blondie staggering at the bottom. It is definitely not the final hill where Blondie falls down (on his back) and Tuco decides to kill him.

Glad to see you see you are still working with the seller, Lil Brutto.

It's included at the end of reel 3 and immediately precedes this scene at the beginning of reel 4:

Ah got it. Maybe it was removed from this sequence with a dissolve:

It would be very cool is some new footage came to light as a part of this.

Question for you, poita.

There are frames missing between reels (pics below). Those scenes contain reel change markers on the laserdisc that was sourced from a theatrical print. For example, between reels 2 and 3 you don't see the frames of the storekeeper nodding his head with the "closed" sign in his mouth and immediately afterwards the confederates troops clearing out of town.

Do you think these scenes/frames are included in this IB tech print given they're not in the pics?

There are often different reel change points on different releases, especially if one release was longer than another.

There are often a few frames missing around the reel change points on films that were run for a long time.

If checking the IB against the LD release, then I'd look to see if these frames exist on the LD.

If they are missing from the LD, then it is likely that the film has extra content, and would contain the sections from the LD as well.

If these frames *are* on the LD, then you can soon work out exactly where they are on the LD, and that should give you your answer.

Ignoring the LD, you can see in the pics above that there are scenes missing from reel to reel. For instance, the entire the scene of Blondie firing the cannon at Tuco a second time is not present between "FINE PARTE 8" and "PARTE 9".

I'm not familiar enough with the film to say, I'll check it against the Bluray tonight.

Being an Italian print, it could be a different cut, 9 reels means it should be a good length though.

I’m genuinely perplexed by this orange wash. It’s not subtle either, I notice it constantly. In ever scene. Was the master print worn or something?

I like some of the extended scenes that are available in the new cut. Not keen on the grotto scene, however. Would love to have a copy of the Italian version of the film but with the English mono soundtrack. Anybody have a DVD-R they could send me?

It is not more on the “tehpara…” site.
