I slightly altered your first line, but I don't think I changed your meaning and
I couldn't agree more! In ESB we watch Han and Leia fall in love and even express such feelings to each other. That building relationship takes up most of the film! Han being openly jealous doesn't fit his character and it undermines everything they went through in the previous film and even the opening scenes of ROTJ. It's a bigger insult than Alien3 killing off Newt and What's-His-Face in the opening scene.
