Guardians of the Galaxy

Definitely the most fun I had at a theater in a while. It's also generally a gorgeous piece of filmmaking; definitely see this in 3D. The villains were a little weak, but they were serviceable, I suppose. 4 out of 5 Troll dolls.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Baaaaad. An incomprehensible mess with a romance that doesn't even make the least amount of sense, villains that have laughably simplistic motivations, CGI that manages to look worse than it did in the first film and poorly shot and edited action scenes. And oh, ofcourse, a lot of Sony products. I feel like Sony and its subsidiaries treat their films solely as products and marketing tools, more so than any other film studio. 1.5 out of 5 pointless plotlines.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture

As a non-Trekkie (I've only seen the Abrams films and First Contact), I thought this was a pretty damn bad introduction to the franchise. It's a pretty decent introduction to 2001: A Space Odyssey though, since it does deal with some of the same themes and it's about as slow...I guess it has that going for it? 2 out of 5 slowly moving Enterprise shots.
