It also makes it seem like Luke and the Rebels didn't actually accomplish anything. Who cares that they defeated the Sith if there is still an evil dictatorship running things?

As far as I'm concerned, the death of Palpatine spelled the beginning of the end of the Empire. Without central leadership, the Empire devolved into chaos and broke apart as every warlord with a thirst for power began fighting his brother for possession of Palpatine's throne, allowing the Rebels to move on in and gain enough ground to establish a New Republic.

I don't need everything wrapped up in a neat little package right away to feel as if something significant was accomplished.

So, what are you saying exactly? Your earlier post made it sound like you were cool with the Empire still existing 30 years after RotJ. When I said it would seem Luke had accomplished nothing I was referring to the idea of the Empire still being around 30 years later. I'm fine with the idea that it may have taken the Rebels a few years to completely dismantle the Empire, but Vader and the Emperor were obviously their biggest obstacles.

Basically, I'm trying to say it would be incredibly lame to me if these movies are going to be Rebel Alliance vs. Galactic Empire with no sense of accomplishment or progress since Jedi.
