Not to defend Lucas' directing, but how come Ewan McGregor was able to give a good performance for 3 movies?

I think it's because like Obi-Wan had more Jedi experience than Anakin, Ewan has more acting experience than Hayden. Also, I think Ewan stated that he studied Alex Guiness' performance in the original trilogy to help him prepare for his role as Obi-Wan and to ensure accuracy in everything from his accent to the pacing of his words
