Info Wanted: What is the best source for the 1984 TV broadcast "intro & outro"?

As you all (probably) know, the first time Star Wars was shown on US TV in 1984, it started with a special intro by Mark Hamill. It included some interviews with the fans, shots from all over the world. After the movie Mark Hamill narrated the special ending, which included shots from the “Making of” documentary.

I am searching for the BEST copy - that means the best quality and the longest cut. I have 2 versions - one is from the full broadcast recording. That unfortunately has really bad quality and is very badly compressed to mpg2 - if I remember correctly the complete ~3 (? 4?) hours broadcast was fit into 1 single layer DVD.

The second version is from one of the OCP DVDs. I think it has slightly better quality, but it still sucks. And it’s edited differently.

Any idea what’s the best copy out there? The reason why I’m asking this is that I’m planning to merge it to Harmy’s cut for myself 😃

so you are attempting to merge what is pretty much VHS quality at best (240p/480i) with the 720p of the despecialized harmy editions.

Good luck with that.....

No, not really "merge", I used an incorrect word. To be more precise I have created m3u playlists for all Star Wars related stuff (movies, TV shows and deleted scenes) and I'd just like to put the intro and the outro before and after Star Wars despecialized without getting a shock with the quality drop.

it doesn't matter if you try to "merge" or not, there will be a "quality shock" between vhs resolution footage and 720p footage. It is unavoidable...

OK ignore that part please :-) But I'm STILL interested in finding the best source for this

I'm sorry, but I don't know which source is the best for this purpose. Sorry.
