Weird Vocal Effects

So, for my podcast audiodrama "The Table Round" I need some magic effects for when magic people talk.

I've used reverb to death, and did a weird dual-pitch gimmick a la Evil Galadriel.

I use Audacity. Anyone have a tip on other techniques to try to get otherworldly effects on vocals?

Maybe it's not very "magic", but have you tried the "reverse echo"?

Record line, reverse it, apply echo/reverb, reverse again, apply another reverb stage. If done correctly it can be very eerie.

EDIT : a test made a few minutes ago

That's utterly terrifying. I have to do that!

That was awesome, and featured in our most recent episode at www.TheTableRound.com

We're looking for a new effect for a different magical character.  I'm trying to approximate something like the Witch King of Angmar from the Rankin Bass Return of the King.

Any ideas how to do this? Other ideas for voice effects would be totally appreciated as well.

(I usually use Audacity)
