Is General Grievous really Maul?? — Page 2

More evidence is that Grevious has scales around his eyes. I don't remember Maul having scales.

maybe he is a barbel. ppl who have read NJO know what this is.

You know, that'a an excellent idea and would have saved Grievous from the totally useless "He looks cool and we can sell toys" plot device that he is now, as well as expanding on the character of Maul.

Hmmm, MagnoliaFan, could you bring this theory to life with some clever subtitles in your edit of Episode III?

That's because he was so angry after being cut in half that he refused to use Jergens any more. It's going to be a product tie in.

Hey, hey, perhaps Palpatine took Maul's brain and inserted it into this cyborg body, thus creating Grievious! And he has this opening where he inserts death sticks aka nuke... I mean, Robocop 2 and TESB were directed by the same man, perhaps he stole that idea from GL...

Shoulda stopped at "nuts", rikter.

Seriously, I think that might cross even Lucas' line. Or make him draw one, if he doesn't have one

Cool idea, but I don't buy it at all.

Oh yeah, another thing. I actually went to Star Wars.com one day (6 years ago I lived there, but in the year after Ep I it lost all appeal to me. I wish they had the old version still)

Anyway, there was a documentary on the making of Grievous, design-wise, and based on the design there were many versions that had nothing to do with Maul or even biology. It COULD be an insanely intricate web woven to throw us off the trail, but based on George's new propensity for plot twists (cough cough) I doubt he cares much about surprising us anymore.

There was a Star Wars Tales Comic Book a while back with a story about Luke Skywalker and an apparition that he kept seeing and fighting. To make a long story short, the apparition was Darth Maul. A scientist had taken the two halves of his body after the events of TPM and placed them in a Bacta Tank. Inside the tank his body was connected to a vast array of wires and electrodes that kept his brain alive and thereby his connection to the force. As a ghost he kept appearing and attacking LUke and various people. Of course, Luke found the scientist in his laboratory he simply cut Darth Maul' life-support, end of story. I just wanted to tell you that to show that you weren't the only to think that DM may have survived in some reincarnated state. That story was published in a comic book authorized by Lucasfilm itself. So, next time someone tells you that there is no way that DM could have survived, maybe you could point them to the nearest book store to pick up a copy of the SW Tales to prove them wrong.

Shoot and you think that MY ideas are weird????

George Lucas APPROVED the above mentioned crap oops I ment pulp.....

+ It's REAL funny how serious some of you take Star Wars - guys it is just a series of neat movies... you know, moving pictures that tell a make-believe story. So there is no need to throw on your Star Wars costumes and throw a fit over mere fan speculation.

Well, that shatters to pieces my "crossing George Lucas' line" theory... goes to show...

I just watched Balance of the Force last night, and Maul really is something special, just to see him move. And his death is kinda disappointing (did we learn nothing from the death of Fett?)

I can see Maul's internal dialogue right when they focus on his face: "I just kicked two hardcore Jedi's butts, pretty solidly too. And I just let an unarmed man fly past my face and over my head, ignite a saber and take a swing while I did NOTHING. Crap."

Oh well. If you get an unsatisfying death, everyone will want another go at it.

It's official. Star Wars is no better than Dragon Ball Z, now.

Perhaps Grievous is a modified clone of Maul? Extremely hypothetical of course.

That's my idea - I never said it was the SAME Maul

Well whatever the scenario, I hope Grievous is a lot more exciting a villain than Maul, it takes a lot more than a martial arts expert in 'cool' makeup and two lines of dubbed dialogue to be a credible bad guy,

Let's hope that the new and improved "Grievous" guy gets more screen time then Maul or that hack Boba Fett!

From the animated series I would seem that he's gonna be the BAD-A$$ of episode 3 ~ BUT the again we've all been let down twice already.....

From the official script to Episode 1-The Phantom Menace:

Scene 24- As Darth Maul stares in shock into Padawan Obi-Wan's eyes, he manages to croak out a few choice words before falling in two:

"Ah'll be back."

Scene 25-Obi-Wan looks annoyed.

"Whatever...bitch."
Which is the more foolish, the fool (the OT) or the fool who follows (the PT)?

"Stay back, or Mr...Fett gets it!"

I'd love to see that as a deleted scene.

I think he should be Maul, but doubt he will be. Just one of many more lost opportunities by Lucas as a writer. Consider this as an easy "what could have been":

Qui-Gon's saber being blue, Obi-Wan's being green. When Obi-Wan's is lost during the Maul duel and he takes Qui-Gon's, he then wears it for the rest of his days as his own. This also would explain why Luke's own saber, which he built from parts in Obi-Wan's hut as an unfilmed (but written and included in comics and in the novel) scene in ROTJ, ended up being green, and not blue.

I felt the same way until AotC came out and showed us that losing a lightsaber is a common occurance for the Jedi. With all the talk of "This weapon is your life," Obi-Wan and Anakin still lose three sabers each in the PT. So since Obi-Wan would most likely wind up losing Qui-Gon's at some point (if he used it himself), better to hold on to it as a momento.
