I prefer this deconstruction of Insurrection. It's taken apart from a real Star Trek fan's perspective and does an excellent job of contrasting the show and the films. The humor is probably more childish than that other video but he definitely doesn't come off as such a jerk like that other guy.

SF Debris is about as real a Star trek fan as you can get. I mean he gives episodes of Voyager and Enterprise 10/10,which is more then I would ever do.  He just calls things as he sees them too and tends to focus on the moral implications of the episodes and films instead of plot details, which I know can rub some people the wrong way.

By the way I know how it feels to like something others see as stupid as I enjoy a few Star trek and Doctor Who episodes that are not well loved.  How ever as much as I may like The Twin Dilemia on a personal level i will not deny that people have good reason for not liking it and it damaged the show over all.  I also wouldn't say anyone was wrong for call the Doctor a complete maniac in this story and wondering why Peri would continue to travel with him.  I may like the story but I am not blind to it's massive flaws either.

Still for the record here he is being positive about the series and well he opened my eyes to a hidden gem that I had completely forgotten about.  http://blip.tv/sf-debris-opinionated-reviews/voy-the-thaw-review-6039658

They originally started out with Star Trek reviews, Mike Stoklasa is a big Star Trek nerd.

Edit: Don't worry Ryan, we'll always have Short Circuit 2. ;P

I wasn't trying to say you can't or even shouldn't like it(I do include it when i watch a marathon of Star trek Films)it was just that your first post seemed to express confusion as to why people don't like the movie,so i was trying to explain that.  Sorry if that was lost in my long rambling posts, print is not the medium in which I express myself the best.  Sorry if it came off as a personal attack or went a bit overboard.  One of the reasons I like threads like this is that people can explain why they do or don't like a movie and I find exploring those different viewpoints interesting.  For instance your reasons for liking Insurrection are almost the same as my reasons for liking Star Trek V.  It is a pretty bad movie but the camping scene and the banter between the three leads saves it for me,so i do understand your view point.  I was just trying to explain mine is all.  Sorry if I messed that up.

I didn't even know people disliked The Dark Knight Rises, but i loved it and I think it was the perfect end to the series.  In fact after ME3 had so let me down earlier that year when the film was over I clapped and stood up and said "That is how you end a trilogy Bioware!".  To me it finished all the characters arcs as perfectly as they could be with The Joker dead and it didn't go grimdark with out being all sunshine and roses either and that is hard to do.  So far it is the only superhero trilogy where I have liked all three films so that goes a long way.

Sorry if I went on but I was not aware there was any hatred to this movie since myself and the friends I watched it with in theaters liked it.

Except the Joker wasn't dead(just the actor who depicted him).

Well yeah but they aren't about to recast so close to his death and I think that was a smart move since no matter how good the recasting was people would be saying he wasn't as good as Ledger and the film didn't need that holding it down.

Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of people worship Army of Darkness. Hell, I heard it was even one of the highest selling videos back in the late '90s.

"A Shot in the Dark" is one of my favorite films. And I was born in the 90s!

"Son of Kong", released less than a year after the 1933 original, is definitely worth a watch. I didnt even know it existed until recently, but it is enjoyable for its lighter, comedic tone and the interesting way the story is driven by the aftermath of the first film.

Another film I thought of is "Force 10 From Navarone". It gets a lot of hate simply because it is held up against a classic film from another era. I enjoy it for what it was. Also, "Futureworld" was just as entertaining and cheesy as it's predecessor "Westworld".

I think Ghostbusters 2 is great.  Far from being a cheap knockoff of the original, it is well written and takes the story in an interesting and unexpected direction.  There's a lot to love about it: the funny parts are just as funny as the first film (possibly even more so), the scary parts are scarier, and the theme of stealing the baby gives it a dramatic weight the first movie lacked.  Add to that a significant increase in the quality of both special effects and audio mixing compared to the first movie, and it adds up to be a compelling and highly watchable film in its own right.

I've enjoyed Ghostbusters 2 for many years, and still do.  I had no idea other people didn't feel the same way until I looked it up online a few years ago and found a plethora of negativity directed towards it, which baffles me greatly.  I suspect that the increased focus of the script on realistic character interactions and dramatic storytelling is, for many, irreconcilably at odds with the tone of the first movie, which never took itself seriously for a minute.  This is perhaps understandable, but ultimately missing the point.

Exactly. I always felt both movies were equally enjoyable, with lots of scares, laughs and creativity to make them entertaining, not to mention the excellent chemistry between the cast.

Perhaps you're familiar with him/her*?

Oh man, I was a closeted Ghostbusters II apologist... until I watched this video. Wow that movie is sloppy as hell. Was still fun to watch it as a kid, so I can't hate it.

All odd numbered Star Trek films are under-rated.

Some are pretty bad but none of them are as bad as they are made out to be.

Quantum of Solace is exactly as bad/good as Casino Royale Sans Cheese and Skyfall.

Batman Begins and Dark Knight Rises are as good/bad as each other.

Superman Returns is a much better film than Man of Steel.

Alien 3,4 and the first AVP movie are under-rated though far from perfect.

Back to the Future Part 2 tends to get bitched about for being dark and confusing when if anything it could do with being more convoluted and the usually loved part 3 is a bit of a let down from my perspective.

X-Men 3 detractors tend to forget how dumb and badly scripted the first film was.

What bizarro universe are you from? I have come across very few who liked Part 3 let alone loved it.

I love it. How could you not love the charming way The Doc and Clara's romance plays out. Surely there's nothing more romantic than rescuing your beloved from an exploding time-train using a pink hoverboard from an alternate dimension?

Just realised! The Doctor and Clara oooooh timey wimey.
