Yup. That's what I meant when I said "false" assumption. Heck, many of the people on this site could have the long arm of the law down on them, just with the pics and info that's posted. Personally, I don't think pics of a setup would do that, but that's just MHO.

Well if someone doesn't want their setup photographed I give -1 props for respecting their wishes.

Author

Yeah, but just say "The person doesn't want their stuff photo'd." Don't make up security reasons for it, as they really don't exist.

That said, don't hear me as just a hater - I don't think I'd want my stuff/setup photographed either, what with embedded EXIF data and all that, but I wouldn't say it was for security, just say, "Nope." None of us on this site have any right to this stuff - it's a privilege. If we want to play we have to play by the project's rules. That goes for pretty much every project on here, and you can tell that because each of them has a different set of rules...

Very true about EXIF data.  I forgot iphone photos have the GPS location in them.

I love seeing photos of this stuff too but I completely understand that they might try and be somewhat anonymous.

It is a privilege.  It would be a real shame if it was taken away.  But I don't think Disney is in danger of losing any money over this stuff.

They can find everyone through their IP address.  All they need is a warrant and I'm sure everything seen here is good enough to get one.

If they are serious about privacy, they are using Tor, or at least some VPN.

Also, EXIF data is very easy to remove.

Looks like you've already done a cleaning pass on this, has it been color corrected as well?

Again, there are people associated with this group, that have never posted, so talking about IP addresses does nothing.

We're not worried, because there is no product released,or anything beyond the scope of other projects here. When we're done, we'll just close up shop, and go our own ways.

Well, enough talk about that, and we'll have some more previews of that in the future

Has anybody seen this?  BlackMagic just announced an "affordable" 2k and 4k 35mm film scanner.

If this is anything like other BlackMagic products it will be available to rent at a fraction of the cost.  Would this be an improvement over the methods currently being used?

Undoubtedly, but it might make the group's desired anonymity somewhat difficult.

Saw that awhile ago. We have no need for it. Our equipment is comparable, and custom built.

Here is a low bitrate preview of some of the changes made for the SE versions.

This one is from the desert scene, where the sky was later recomposited, and an optical wipe was changed. Original on the top, SE on bottom.

NOTE : There is a lot of damage on these frames, that will take awhile to fix.

One thing is certain, whoever did the cleanup of the SE sure as hell loves saturated colours. Notice how the sand has a very vivid hue and the sky is cyan instead of of a soft baby blue.

Author

hate the colours, but i actually prefer the SE version of this shot if im honest

Thanks for posting these original vs. SE changes.

Never understood why Lucas went to the trouble of deliberately shooting with a (stocking wasn't it?!) defuse filter for many of the tattooine scenes, and then in 2004 went and artificially sharpened many of these deliberately soft shots! Another example of getting carried away playing around with a new digital gadget...

The colors in our version will be corrected. But will still retain the orignal look. That is the way it was. The tech's have a slightly different tint, but still match up closely too.

We will not be in a rush for any reason. Good things come to those that wait.
