Alright my bad. Perhaps I misread your 'tone'.

No harm no foul.

Mean spirited? I'm sorry, I wasn't attacking you, at least I don't think so, not maliciously anyway.

As I said and I do mean it I really enjoy your writings here as they are eloquent and even handed.
"The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." - Goering.

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." - Goebbels.

"In times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act." - Orwell.

That hasn't stoped many from proclaiming it will suck. Despite how excellent both Attack of the Clones and Clone Wars was. Despite that it shows the rise of Vader something I have wanted to see since I can remember. Despite it has one of the coolest villians I have ever seen as Clone Wars proved. Despite being filled to the brink with action and digital effects. Has all the makings of a masterpeice.

Despite the fact that most of what you just said is OPINION. That, and finish your sentences. I take issue with how you state it as though it were fact. I thought Clone Wars was pretty average, and I know I've seen more animation than you. Also, I was addressing everyone by that last statement. Stop assuming that the whole universe revolves around you. Also, action and SFX does not a masterpiece make. Take ID4, filled with those two things, and it's utter crap.

Made for IE Forum's Episode III theme month - May 2005.

Independence Day rocks. Don't diss that too.

While I won't "diss" the acting and writing of ID4, I will point out some very interesting things about it. If you watched the film you would have noticed some very run in the ground stereotypes. Nevermind the blowing up of all the national monuments.

Will Smith's character is the "Angry Black Man" that we have seen many times before, who is married to a black woman who has to shack up with flyboy while she strips for money to keep her son fed. Jeff Goldblum is the "smart Jewish" guy, and if that didn't hit you over the head, you had his character's father answering every line of dialogue with a question. Bill Pullman as the president had to be the most white bread and mayonnaise actor you could possibly find. Oh, and the best part is when the motherships all start crashing to the ground they show different parts of the world. Everyone has military style weapons... except Africa, who still has natives with shields and spears! As we all know, Africa has plenty of military style weapons. We (the United States) sold them to them!

Oh, and as for the killing of the aliens, it was all the same. Open the hard exterior, shoot the inside. Works for the fighters, the ships, the mothership's computer, and even for the aliens themselves.

I laughed all the way through this movie. It was the best comedy I had seen since "Over the Top."

I also forgot that the aliens' computers were Mac compatible.

ArtGuy, I never thought about Independance Day that way before. I'll have to go back an watch the film again. I've only seen it twice. Very astute of you. I give you kudos for it.

Independence Day is the perfect alien invasion of Earth movie. I mean perfect. Its plot holes actually add to its downright fun.

Just don't get me started on Top Gun and it's underlying themes. LOL

I've seen ID4 once, and only once, as I was in a local test audience for the flick. As far as I know little to nothing has been changed from what I've seen, but I remember that Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith went into the freaking alien spaceship (they had pressurized oxgen on the ship, and the temperature were confortable 75F), injected a computer virus (and probably written in a x86 architecture code, I must say, it wouldn't run on macintosh, let alone in a alien ship), waved hello to the aliens, then got out, blew the whole thing, and "landed" EXACTLY were their wife and kids would be, in the middle of a freaking desert. It has probably the worse plot holes I've seen since "Santa with Muscles" or "Battlefield Earth". as Crow T Robbot once said: "Waiter, I'd like a table closer to the PLOT, please..."

Oh ok so the virus was written in a Macintosh. Tha alone is a acomplishment by itself.

Perhaps Steve Jobs is an alien. And so is Bill Gates. They are from the planet Metaluna, and are building computers so that they can control the world and steal plutonium from our planet to avoid Metaluna from being destroyed.

Nah, most of those movies were worse than even the prequels, Jimbo. Save for Dumb & Dumber. Van Helsing had to be the worst. What a complete dissapointment. Shouldn't have expected anything less from Stephen Sommers. The worst part was that people were actually looking forward to the movie.

Godzilla

Godzilla (Devlin/Emmelich version) = G.I.N.O. = Godzilla In Name Only. Movie was more like a remake of "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms", which should have been named thus. The real Godzilla is nothing like the horror that Devlin made.

It was so dumb how Godzilla just hid out for 75% of the movie. Where the hell was he?!

Aren't you a bit down on Van Helsing. Look at the trailer what did you expect. Van Helsing made no sense and is very campy but on a pure dumb fun level they don't get much better then Van Helsing. The movie is fun as hell and the effects are superb. It is just a huge action romp that succeeds in being highly entairtaining.

GINO's Godzilla absolutely sucked, what in God's name was that? (BTW my mother's cousin is an american, she lives in Hawaii, and she was an extra in that movie...)
