I was checking this scene in the original film vs the special edition today, and I think this shot needs a closer inspection..

I thought it had been cropped but then I thought...no there is more (cloud city underside) background than in the original. Is the falcon cropped at the bottom edge? Then I looked again and I thought this has been rescaled, luke is smaller in the special edition and the falcon appears a bit different too and seems to last longer in the theatrical not sure about frame count. I hope someone can have a closer look at this as I am no expert but there's more to this than in the description you put I think. The scaling in the original seems to be correct and the special edition out of proportion.
