Would you ignore the fact that The Emperor has been called Palpatine since 1976 or would Sidious and Palpatine be 2 Dark Side users with no connection to each other?

He's never referred to as Palpatine on screen until the Prequels as far as I'm aware...

He's referred to as Palpatine in the novelizations of ANH and ROTJ.
