Hahaha!

I think I own more legit retail versions of Star Wars than anyone on the planet.

Sorry, couldn't pass this up. I'm throwing down the gauntlet. See my sig. :-)

That wouldn't offer any protection of any kind in the real world though.

It's offered us plenty, and we are less visible than you are. Since you've publicly posted pictures of where of you live, and what you have.

We are almost anonymous. Nothing can be linked to the several members of our team, except what is known through this account.

Regardless of this, we are committed to being the only restoration effort with multiple copies of each film, and bringing the highest quality restorations possible with our knowledge and resources.

Team Negative1

Bla bla bla. Why do you feel the need to turn it into a competition? The team is obviously community-minded since they have already shared their work with Harmy and others, so I don't understand this attitude. You expressed frustration at people bringing up the issue of your scofflaw account, then proceed to practically brag about it...

It's funny how many of your posts have the exact same recipe of egotism/neediness/obliviousness that negative1's did. I'm sure most people don't doubt the team's resources or commitment, though I'd wager more than a couple doubt the mental coherence of their spokesperson.

I don't see any of this as a competition at all, I fully support anyone trying to preserve Star Wars on any format, it is hard work, but also lots of fun.

I'm a big supporter of the team, and have provided a ton of resources to the -1 effort, and am looking forward to seeing their final results.

I just reckon that any thoughts of being anonymous in this day and age are unlikely to be realistic. I have no doubt that if the wrath of Disney or Fox et al is brought down, then it would not take them long to find anyone :)

What, no Derran Super 8? ;)

I'm missing the PVD, and the Spanish ESB LD, and the Making of CED, but have the Derran Super8s. I have some other film editions, and one weird PAL laserdisc master thingo, but they don't classify as retail versions, so I will admit defeat! That is an impressive collection.

You own an LD master? Would like to see what one looks like.

I'll take a photo, looks like a gold disc, not very exciting.

Anyway, I'll stop clogging up the thread with collectibles :)

Agreed. Most of the people here, have no idea about the extent of co-operation, and  discussions, and groundwork that has been done in the background. It will be a fascinating story someday once all is said and done, to trace back the genesis of this project, and its development.

And for us with minimal monetary compensation or additional resources, we try to stay as self-funded as possible.

This would not be possible with a larger operation, and we prefer it that way.

We have also done all we can to maintain privacy and anonymity, so regardless of any action taken, we have many contingency plans.

So to that extent, we're not worried too much about future repercussions or reprisals, but we are not taking unnecessary risks either.

Cool, looks good.

Any more shots of luke in the snow coming up? I really liked how it looked at the end of that clip :)

Thanks. We are going to concentrate on all the zoomed shots for now. We may return to those scenes later on.

Look through the screenshot comparisons to get an idea of which ones are coming up. Most are cockpit shots, although theres Luke hanging upside down in the cave, which was cropped differently.

Thanks for posting these.   Is the screenshot your scan vs. the BR or GOUT?

We will be sharing all the zoomed shots and possibly more when possible with Harmy for his ESB project, maybe for the 2.5 version. It's up to him.

That's very cool of you. I really hope Harmy will seize this opportunity.

Two of the prints we have, look like this:

This video was posted previously.

(newer partial Fuji print is on top, Kodak faded is on bottom):

2nd comparison:

Parts of the Kodak print were being provide to Harmy for ESB.

We hope to have a better Fuji print for reference, and possibly the 16mm LPP, and another print in the near future.

I don't think I want to know where you guys are getting the money for all these extra reels @_@

I'd better not hear that the project's been canceled because everyone's in jail.

Some of the prints have already been acquired. Its just a matter of shipping, scanning and storing them.

We have been previewing the new Fuji print. Though slightly dirty on the headers and tails parts, the rest looks fairly clean.

It will possible to use this as a good color reference going forward for future versions. So less guessing on what the colors will look like.

A full review will be forthcoming.

Great stuff - looking forward to seeing some shots. Would be good to see the colour of the Hoth scenes on this print, the Dagobah scenes, the cloud city approach amongst others.

Look forward to the review :)

Fantastic!  Do you have a way to clean the physical film?

Yes, we use filmguard, and it helps quite a bit.

We have previewed 2/3 of the film so far, and it looks like there is slightly less damage on the later reels. The color is consistent, but one other thing of note :

From cinch: "empire seems to have been made with 70mm in mind, the sides of the 35mm scope image are blacked out to bring the ar closer to 2.2:1."

That will make for some interesting choices once we are closer to completing this scan.

50G versions? That could fit on a 64GB USB flash drive.

They are quite small and lightweight now. Still a little pricey but it would be the ezast thing to ship.

I bought a 64Gb flash for my girlfriend last October. It cost me £12. My mate said to me after, that anything above 32Gb in flash form is currently unstable and could loose its data. My GF stick still works fine.

I am proud to say I remember the 80’s!
