Cheers Muddy, I thought about it a bit like that too.
There is one last thing that has popped into my brain recently, and it is to do with when the falcon escapes from the hanger. Again it's not a big deal as a lot is going on in the scene... But I had this thought about the hanger bay doors.
It appears that the doors are shut in the image of them running toward the Falcon (The Shadowing clearly suggests this in the hanger) but it is never shown that not only are they waiting for the Falcon to start it's engines due to mechanical difficulties but that they are also waiting for the doors to open...
I don't know if there is a way to show this but I think it was a bit of a missed opportunity not showing they are waiting on 2 things to happen to escape not just the engines conking out
Or perhaps the other way around showing the doors open but emphasis on the engine failure that they are ready to escape but still can not get out. Anyway I think it's a missed opportunity either way around.
There's also like a missing shot of where the falcon needs to lift off and do a 90 degree turn.
Ion Canon
somone on the facebook a long time ago mentioned about adding the control room window in the cliff side. I really think this is a great idea. I wanted to show my support for this idea but also to go one step further. What about the dangling cables attached to the gun? It would give the gun a more realistic feel if it had animated cables attached to the nozzle as it pumps a few shots off. Just a thought about bringing it into this era of effects we are now in I think it would be a good update and give it a bit more realism. Mcquarrie drew them but they were probably left off the model or the model was re-designed but I like the cables he put on it and I think they left them off as it was difficult to do this at the time perhaps.
Wampa Deleted scene
Just had my mind blown by the deleted scene of the Wampa from this trailer... I think I know what you will say on this Ady... That the footage is not good enough. But It's just killed me off that this did not make it in to the film complete with that snarling sound effect it gives out.

I'll understand if this can't be put back in the film anywhere but to say I just got blown away by it, If it did that to me... It will do it for lot's of other also I am sure. It just begs the question why the special edition is the way it is even more. This is one for the keeping I think. In this trailer here

From the trailer 2 I spotted a really cool destroyed turret and though this could be used at a distance perhaps?
