I recon an interpositive (one removed from the negative if I got my terminology right) Should still be pretty sharp and detailed enough to splice into the footage to make a reasonable OOT release. (correct me if wrong)
I fear most likely they'll just use the recomposited shots wherever they can though and only scan/clean older footage that was cut out of the '97 release. (seems like the cheapest way to do it)
