Info Wanted: 'Miracle Mile' (1988) - Is there a Widescreen version?

I re-watched this the full screen version again Tuesday night with my sister who had never seen it before. It’s a great film that starts out like a typical date gone bad move until possible nuclear war is thrown into the mix. Then things get very interesting really fast.

Was this ever show in theatres, and if so, has anyone ever seen a widescreen commercial release?

I can tell this was shot widescreen the way the cameras artificially pan from left to right when 2 people are having a conversation a few feet apart.

Apparently, this MOD release is in 16:9 widescreen:

If this presentation is correct, it suggests that the full screen release was open matte, not pan & scanned.

The second review suggests that it is letterboxed, not 16:9 sadly.

It says right on the box that it's 4x3 letterboxed.

Rewatched it yesterday pretty cool flick.

anyone interested to remaster it? Work some magic like team blu on the SW gout DVD?

the movie deserves some anamorphic love :)

Experimented with dvd rebuilder to get a 16/9 dvd (my Tv/dvd zoom way too much) and im pretty happy with the result but it has full scenes interlaced hard. its pretty annoying.

Mît would have been probably solved with my previous dvd player wich was progressive but the bd/dvd player im using now (Toshiba bx1200) dont offer this option.

any idea ?
