To be fair, they were originally aired in a pretty random order as episodes were completed.

 

 Yes, but it aired five nights a week in syndication. You could see a third season episode one night, and a season one the next. I don't think they aired in any sort of order until the early 80's.

The 80's syndication masters were a bit sloppy too. The opening teaser for The Doomsday Machine sounded like it was playing a half second slow. Kirk and company sounded like they had been hitting the Saurian Brandy, if you know what I mean. I don't think that got fixed until the Sci Fi channel airings.
