I completely agree w/ you on this subject Dayv. I told Jimbo & Darth Justin to stop in another thread -- the one about the new SW trailer -- and they just kept going. I think that Jay needs to have a talk w/ Jimbo, cause this thread is out of control, especially in the General Star Wars Discussion Forum where things remain G-rated. This kind of thing leads to what MilleniumFalcon.com says about us being phycos & what-not. Bottom line Jimbo, if u can not remain civil in a debate or a personal argument, you are NOT WANTED HERE. Please stop, we don't want someone else as hated as Nile.

I think I figured out why the characters in the prequels are so boring compared to the OT characters.

In the PT, all of the emotional catalysts are things that normal people can't relate to. Most people can't relate to being super-powerful and chosen to "bring balance" to anything. Most people can't relate to being a senator, and can't sympathise with all of Padme's day-to-day problems.

Luke on the other hand, is just an ordinary kid who dreams of doing something great. It is something people can relate to better. Everyone wants to be the hero, to get the girl--if you don't know that she's your sister. Being stuck at home with a mundane life is something that kids and adults alike can relate to. But most of us can't relate to being separated from our mothers and then finding her dying, tortured by nomads.

So it is really lack of humanity, but lack of normal people.

im not too sure about that one chaltab. we can relate to in the beginning with luke, but after that he figures out that he to be the one to go up against the emperor and darth vader. we cant relate to han solo. we cant relate to leia...

Why is it a dead topic? I thouht that Jay had to make it so.

What I am saying is, that despite all that Luke achieves, all that Han achieves, they still started as oridinary people. Not a fourteen year old queen-cum-senator. Not a slaveboy with amazing powers. Just a farmer and a smugler.

I get what you're saying. I wouldn't mind being a Jedi, but being Han Solo or Luke or one of the characters from the OT sounds much cooler than being any of the prequel characters (save for the Jedi, as I said).
