I will admit, I’ve grown to really like and respect the show, though I haven’t read the books, it is my understanding that each season is one of the books in George R. R. Martin’s series.

While watching the series, I thought with intelligent editing, the show could be edited down to film size.

Many scenes are drawn out and some unnecessary. 5 minute sex scenes added for the sake of having sex scenes being a prime example. Plus, I think cutting out some of the scenes that explain too much would add more of a surprise when they happen.

Of course the show is a good 10 hours a season, and for the sake of the viewer would be better cut down to 3 hours, or 6 hours if each season got a 2-parter, kind of like Kerr’s Book edits of LOTR.

I just wonder how it could be done. I’m not saying I’m doing it, but it’s a very interesting thought, and I’m actually a little surprised nobody has tried it.

I think it could be done. Removing a lot of the more soap opera/porno elements, and keeping the Epic Dramatic Fantasy core.

There are still 2 seasons planned, and 2 more books which might turn into another 2 seasons that haven’t been made yet, but I don’t think it would hurt to do something before hand.

Anybody else think this is a good idea, and what could be done to make it work, or why shouldn’t it be done?
