Why did they have to add Trek 09 to it? :-( I have it on both DVD and BD, I don't want to buy it a third time :-(
But anyway, does anybody know if it will be released in all (Bluray) regions?

A tentative yay?
I never bought STID on Blu-Ray for exactly this reason. I don't mind re-buying ST2009 as it's nice to have it in the same boxset and Ebay can have my old copy (Infact I might sell it off right now LOL). However, going by the hideous looking minty blue transfer of STID on the current release that I've seen screenshots of, I can only hope this new iMax one will be better.

The article states that Paramount is working on a way to give previous purchasers a discount when purchasing this item once it's available. That alone keeps me in the running for purchasing this set as long as it's got all the stuff that should have come with both movies when they released them originally.

Does anyone remember this beauty? In the early 80's, they had one of these at a local movie theater, and I would play every time I went there. Well, I just found one still in action here in Las Vegas!

Did that game have vector graphics? if so I had the home version for my Vectrex when I was a kid. That looks so cool!!!

"Star Trek: Strategic Operations Simulator is a space combat simulation arcade game based on the original Star Trek television program, and released by Sega in 1983.
It is a vector game, with both a two-dimensional display and a three-dimensional first-person perspective. The player controls the Starship Enterprise, and must defend sectors from invading Klingon ships.

The Sega and Vectrex games are totally different beasts. I had it for Vectrex and a home version of Sega for the Atari computer. Both were very challenging games. The Sega home version lacked the voices of the Enterprise crew though.
The Vectrex and the game actually appeared in a low budget SF movie called Android.
Nice to know there are still old arcade games to be found in Vegas. I was totally ruling Atari Star Wars one night in the mid 80's at Caesar's Palace, but they had a crappy policy of shutting the power to the games down around 11 at night to make the kiddies leave. :/

Okay thanks for the info. Vectrex seems to have latter rereleased the game with out the Star Trek name so i have never talked to anyone else who played it. It was one of my favorite games as a kid but I was never able to find out anything about it beyond the fact that it existed,so thanks for the info.
It was a really fun game and the day my mom throw out my Vectrex while I was at a friend's house because I had just gotten a Playstation and I "Didn't need two video game machines." was one of the saddest of my live because I couldn't play it any more. Thanks for the info.

Wow! It didn't occur to them the thing was worth money? There are emulators of it around.

No I didn't. Just the base unite and about ten games with the overlays and they were awesome. it was my mom's call and she was always afraid that if I had too many toys I would turn into a spoiled brat,she also got rid of my NES on that same day but that didn't make me as sad since you can find them everywhere. her heart was in the right place but it still makes me sad since I have never seen another Vectrex in person in my life. i really wish I still had that machine.

Yeah I can't for the life of me figure out what raw footage from those episodes would be doing on the same film reel. Still some of the doctor who missing episode finds have been stranger then this so I am very interested. Hopefully whoever gets this film in the end will post it to the net and we will find out what the deal is with it.

I don't recall ever having seen this game before. The same year this came out I had chosen to go with a ColecoVision gaming system. I think I made the better choice, yet this Star Trek game looks very kewl.

Yeah that's the game!
The Vectrex was awesome. It played really smooth and the Star Trek game was cool and had some nifty features like being about to refuel and warp to other sectors of space.

Having looked at the description again, the logo of the Westheimer Company appears on the leader. They were one of the optical FX houses that regularly worked on the series. It could be a demo reel for the man whose estate the reel came from.
