For sure it is a dumb rumor, but if it was true, that would be very un-Star Warsy to have a flashback scene, especially if they are trying to stay close to the style of the OT.

Yep, I agree with you emanswfan. Your reasoning is exactly why I don't think they would.

But IF they do a flashback, it better be integral to the story and they better either use mo-cap or the same technology that was used to make that Dove Chocolate commercial with Audrey Hepburn (whichever would give the best result). Carrie's daughter does not look like a younger Leia and prosthetics are a no-go in this case.

Unless they're afraid people will fall asleep, really, it would work just as well to have Leia tell the back story (from her point of view) like how Obi-Wan did for Luke. Then, if needed, just have Carrie's daughter have a small "fun and ironic" cameo as a slave for someone someplace.
