Buster D was faster then me... mono mix for jaws has been captured. needs to be synced... i think pdb will take care of it :)

stamper, good point on dirty harry. anyone can help?

Yep Buster D sent me a copy of Jaws and I'm already hard at work on it.

He also sent me a synced copy of Blade Runner The Director's Cut's PCM tracks in both 44.1 and 48. I will add them to the list when I get them downloaded. Thanks Buster D.

Can anyone preserve Dirty Harry original mixes? Mono and stereo. It's on this collection of LDs. The remix is horrible. http://www.lddb.com/search.php?search=dirty+harry&sort=title

I don't think any of them were originally stereo, except for The Dead Pool.

Look at the back of this LD, and there's a tiny "reprocessed for stereo" credit.

Early pan and scan releases might be the best source for the mono, at least for the first film.

That's my understanding too. That you have to go back a ways to get the original mono.

How bad is the stereo audio on the Star Trek TNG Blu-rays, aside from it being lossy Dolby Digital instead of lossless or PCM?  I don't notice anything much when I watch the BDs in stereo (only just started Season 2 though), but I believe I've read on Trek Core about the stereo having missing/wrong SFX that matches mistakes on the 7.1 tracks, so I assume that the stereo isn't the original audio, but a downmix or new stereo mix done at the same time as the 7.1.

Most of the "Log" LD boxes can be found pretty cheaply in Japan, maybe I'll try synching one of my favorite episodes and see how long it takes me.

the original Blade Runner mix is terrible. Granted its original and should be preserved but its not a good mix. Dialog/ADR sounds very terrible

I'm curious to see what you find Buster D. From what I've seen those TNG BD have a host of problems.

Does anyone have Magnificent Seven pcm mono?

Author

Cool. Good to know someone has it. I watched it recently (tribute to Eli Wallach RIP) and found the 5.1 mix a bit too dynamic. Maybe the original mono was like that too, not sure how faithful the new mix is.

The product code should actually be PILF-1204.  Sorry about that, I'll have to remember to include all the information next time.

does this forum actually have a search function? I cant find it.

anyway, it would be helpful if all those projects mentioned in the OT could be linked to their corresponding threads.

PDB n Buster .... any chance the other Star Trek movies on LD are going to have their audio preserved?  That would certainly be most awesome.

Thanks,

Shawn

Buster D was nice enough to do ST2, ST3 and ST4. Jonno was nice enough to do ST1 and ST2. I have ST6 ripped from the LD but not synced yet. No one has done ST5, I wonder why...:)

Anyway I'm traveling today Shawn but give me a day and I will upload and send you the links.

Also I added Duck, French Connection, Dirty Harry (mono) and Seven to the want list. A few people here have the Duck/Dynamite LD so it would be nice to fix the errors in the DVD/HD's audio.

there are some copy & paste problems with the link, e.g. when I seach for "alien" in title (term1) then google gives me the search result

site:originaltrilogy.com/forum allintitle:alien

and no results at all.

Cool, thanks.  I have V along with Generations, First Contact, and Insurrection on LD.  The last 3 are Japan pressings.

I have both DYS discs and will happily help out with the mono. You need the earlier Image disc for the last line, and the new BD or some other source for the correct uncut flashback cue.

TFC is one of my big mono wishes, and I've never been able to find it. (like Bullitt) The LDs are stereoized, and the new remastered BD includes a "mono" track but I haven't gotten to sample it yet. The one LD I've wanted to check is the I and II double feature but I've never been able to confirm the track is indeed mono.
