I have a question and I would hope someone might know the answer.

At what point was the opening changed? The opening shot was meant to be Luke on the taun taun and the opening crawl over the icy landscape..

So the plan was not to reveal planet hoth until later but they changed their minds..For better or worse. But was it changed after shooting actors had wrapped?

Apparently it is from the 3rd draft of script, but did'nt a scriptwriter also die during production?

So when was 3rd draft I guess it was pre production?

Ok done a bit of investigation it was pre-production. I also checked the Kasdan shooting script and the script only mentions a single probe that lands on hoth. So It's quite a curiosity from script to screen also.
