That was the most hilarious CG blood stain I've ever seen.

I'll have to rewatch the episode because I am not sure what you are talking about.

Author

Well that was intense.  I didn't know you could get away with scenes that graphic on broadcast TV.  I am pretty sure 24 is going to end with the russians killing Jack. The writers really seem to be foreshadowing and building up to that being the end of the series.

More than likely. I wonder if they have two endings in the can, one for good ratings, and one for bad.

And Jack got to punch an innocent bystander and steal his car. That was awesome.

Yeah that whole chase scene was one of the best I have ever seen on TV.  I think you may be right about the two endings,I hope the show gets good enough ratings for us to get the good ending.

Oh and I am rewatching the episodes in order to add chapters to them for my home made blurays and I spotted something in episode five. One of the techs working at the CIA is named Oriana. Why is this interesting?  Well in the games Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 Yvonne Strahovski plays the character Miranda Lawson and she has a "sister/clone" named Oriana.  Now we know Coto is a Sci-Fi and there was a military commander in episode one named Shepard(the character the player plays as in the Mass Effect games)and now in episode five there is an Oriana. This has to be a fun little nod to Mass Effect if you ask me:)

What'd I say about Navarro!

Yeah he was being way too nice to Kate.  Any time someone is nice on 24 that's when my mole radar goes off.

So good this week. Jack's idea of first aid is hilarious and meme-worthy. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the episode. I love 24 Condensed.

Yeah it was good.  I have said it before and I will say it again I think doing 12-16 episodes of a show a year the way the BBC and cable does results in a high quality show before everyone has more time to think about what they are doing.  That is not so say those networks don't produce bad shows but it seems that the talented people are just able to work better when they aren't being pushed to do 24-26 episodes in a single year.  In particular I think it helps the writers since they don't have to rush the scripts through and they are not tired all the time. It's hard to find flaws in your own writing when you are tired.I would love for 24 to continue as a summer show at this length, this may be their best season and I think it is my favorite since season one.

I did not see that ending coming and it leaves so many things up in the air.  I hope Chloe got a pardon two since Heller owes her just as much as he owes Jack and I have to wonder how this will effect the deal with the Russians.  i am guessing the nest episode will skip ahead to the next morning and the last four episodes will take place on the next day.

It's hard to believe there are only four episodes left this season. it's been so well paced that it has just flown by. Still I don't want more episodes since I think it's the season being cut in half that has made it so good.  i would rather have 12 episodes a year that are this good then 24 that are not.

I must enquireth of the well groomed and respectable viewership from acrosseth the pond in those most united of states... Wouldst thou have remained scratching thy noggins had the council estate = housing projects and myriad other cultural explainings not been elucidated for thee?

In the Kingdom of Unitedness, cultural tolerances, peace and harmony where this poster doth dwell such things are never found to be spelled out for us with such blatentfullness. Those who wonder are usually found to have correctly surmised after some thought has been applied and those who do not are usually found to be wondering about a great many other things.

The pointeth I do attempteth to reach is doest though feel talked down to by writing such as that? Explanations where none might have sufficed leaving the viewer no better off for having heard it?

Or doest though welcome it for clarity's sake? Do tell, American cousins!

I didn't even notice them spelling things out like that. But I wouldn't blame them, we're pretty dumb over here. I'm almost surprised they didn't have someone say "I'll never get used to driving on the other side of the road. Because they do that here, in London, where we are now."

Funny story, my wife asked me where Soccer was so popular that they had a giant stadium for it. "England?" "Oh yeah, I forgot this season wasn't in America."

Wives are known well for their lack of sporting savvy by those who seek to fling general statements of that kind around. Pay her no mind! But doth I credit my North American friends with too much sense? Nay, methinks they have at least as much as those who resideth within my country's borders. Never would I compare the intellects of either to my owneth of course, for I am a foolish sort and one who mighteth possibly harbour mental derangements many and varied.

Back on tracketh to Jacketh though. I must proclaimeth in a loud and shouty manner that the depiction of Londontown on this violent stage doth reek of candour and freshness of truth. 'Tis not often London is seen through such grimy eyes by those who come from afar to capture it for all to see. 'Tis of an unusual sight to not spot red post boxes, buses of doubled decks, beefeaters and the Thames. Olde Wan is impressed with the state of things.

Now that was good old fashioned 24!  I think that was the best episode so far this season,it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time and Jack got a renegade Shepard moment!

I'm glad he didn't let her finish her speech, that was one of the best moments in the history of the show.

I loved every second of tonight's episode.

Can I just say that Chloe was written really well this week and Mary Lynn Rajskub did an amazing job playing her.  i don't know what jack was thinking asking her to come back to the CIA,the place she was being tortured just hours ago,the human mind runs from torture and the places it has happened.  he is lucky Chloe was able to keep it together as long as she did.  in most cases people who have been tortured shut down or fall victim to some other form of stress or PTSD.  Chloe is a really strong character but everyone has there limits and I am glad the show showed that and I think Rajskub did a great job playing it.  I hope Chloe gets some form of happy ending because she has been through enough.

To anyone complaining about Chloe hanging up on Jack and getting into the car please try to remember a few things and see events from her point of view to understand her actions. She has just been tortured for days and lost her family. Plus she just thinks her boyfriend is a peaceful freedom fighter and he did help her take down the drones. He hasn't talked about his real plans in front of her so she doesn't know what he is up to and she has been through a lot. She is lonely and in pain. She lost her whole family to a plot by the government. She was then tortured by the government and she has two men in her life. One only broke her out because he needed her and wants her to work for the same government who killed her family and tortured her and the other is giving her a chance to fight back against that government,is it any wonder she choose the other guy? Let's face it to Jack Chloe is just a tool to be used and then he leaves her to face the music while he runs. this other guy may be a scumbag but from Chloe's point of view he seems to care about her a lot more and he has been there for her while she was in pain. Jack needs to start treating Chloe like a friend and be there for her if he wants her to be loyal to him,he needs to show her some loyalty in return. So far he has not done that since she lost her family because she helped him. Is it any wonder she is hurt and confused?

Another outstanding episode. I'm still laughing about the guy on the roof trying to sneak up on Jack, and Jack just being on top of the unit. I also loved when Margot sees Jack in security footage and she recognizes him. Even after disappearing for 4 years, terrorists still know his face and know to fear him. Which really makes the guy Jack was "working for" at the beginning of the season a complete idiot.

I was thinking it was alright that Chloe didn't go back to the CIA to help, she left government work of her own decision and has been helping to run a hacker group for years. She's not about to walk back in there. I had already forgotten that she had been tortured there that morning.

I still can't believe how far Chloe has come since her first appearance. I'm pretty sure my roommate and I were hoping she'd get killed off, now look, she's The Best.

Some friends of mine have been saying that Margot's was the best Bauer kill, but she wasn't in the series long enough to be a true foil for Jack. His best kill will always be Nina Myers. "You don't have any more useful information, do you?" "I do." "No, you don't."

Also, my wife and I laughed at Audrey doing actual first aid on Heller. "Jack put a band-aid on this?!"

Yeah Chloe was a character I couldn't stand in season three, but now she is my favorite so good for the writers for being able to make that switch.

I love that kill, and I didn't see it coming since I figured she would still be around to be up to something in the next three episodes.

Here is one thing,Chloe didn't get a pardon so that means the moment she went back to the CIA they would just take her back down to that room and continue with the torture. Did Jack really think she would go back to that?  i don't know what he was thinking asking her in the first place. It sure makes it seem like he doesn't care what happens to her now that he doesn't need her any more.  I hope he steps up the next three episodes and opens his eyes and sees just how much Chloe has lost helping him and stops treating her like a tool.

On thing is for sure the next three episodes are going to be interesting.

Okay is there anything that isn't going to go wrong for Chloe?  If this is the final season something really good had better happen to her in the end because she has just lost what little she had.

Oh and what's his name is going down.

This really was Agent Morgan's episode and if Jack doesn't make it out of this season alive(and I don't think he will)I could now see the series continuing with her as the lead.

Oh and there is no way out of this there is going to be a lot of bloodshed after that ending.

First I'm surprised the thing with Mark came out so quickly, second that he survived the episode.

Yeah me too.

There is only one episode left and I am pretty sure Jack is going to die:(

Author

I honestly think they shot two endings, one where he lives, another where he dies. Hell, even if it looks like he dies, they could bring him back ala Tony if the demand is there.

I might have to find a TV signal to watch live next Monday.

Maybe but they said Sutherland was heavily involved in writing the ending and he has never seemed fond of the character and actors love it when their characters get killed off so i would think he would be pushing for Jack to die.

Still as you said he could be brought back.

I really wouldn't mind 24 being a summer mini series event from this point on. That would give us new 24 while at the same time giving the people involved time to work on other projects.  I guess we will see what happens.

He was fond enough to actually get the character's tattoos done for real.

I wonder about tattooed characters and long they must sit in makeup every day (especially on "Sons of Anarchy"). I guess that would save Kiefer time in the morning.
