The Matrix trilogy - open matte (WIP)

I’m working on my The Matrix [spoRv] project, and, since I promised I will release also an open matte version, I thought to do the same also for the other two episodes.

JEDIT: Now I have both Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions in MPEG2 and AVC, because using two sources with different compression artifacts will lead to a better final version.

If I will decide to release all the three movies in open matte, could someone else (apart me) be interested?

Of course we are :)

I didn't even know the other two had open matte versions out.

I'm sure you liked the idea, DoomBot! (-^,)

I haven't compared the open matte and BD versions yet, but it seems to me that the open matte color grading is very similar to DVD - at least in the "real world" scenes... someone could post some links to eventual screenshot comparison and/or post/articles that talk about that?

Discover: Matrix Revolutions AVC is cropped, while MPEG2 is real open matte! So, I will discard the AVC version and use MPEG2 only for the project.

I'd be interested as well. And since all the one-click-hoster stuff is a lot of hassle, I'd be willing to offer my upstream resources (about 1MB/s at least) via (S)FTP to hopefully make things easier.

Maybe we could also setup some kind of forum-internal site where we could host all the preserved audio tracks, custom versions, etc. Before anyone screams about piracy: none of this would be necessary of the labels would do their damn job right: to really provide any movie in its highest quality.

This is why I created AMPS.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

Interest arises... so, green light! (but be patient... a lot!)

I should study a more relaxed schedule... I have so many projects in the drawer, that I think when I'll finish to upload them I'll find myself an old grumpy man - older and grumpier than now, anyway! (^^,)

OK, they are in the list, I'll update this thread with further info when it will be the time.

Thought this month, the Mad Max 2 regrade would be more timely ;)

I should finish The Arrival first; plus, I have not all the needed sources for MM2, and kk650 did a good job with his regrading.

Just a note: The AVC of the Matrix Reloaded HDTV cap is just a re-encode of the MPEG2 one as far as I could tell last time I checked them.
