I recently found out that this 2 part story is new canon, sorry I don’t read Insider, but I would like to read this new canon story.  Does anyone know if there are links or torrents or whatnot available?  I couldn’t find it on spleen.

That would fall under the banner of piracy, and that's not how we roll around here. You can probably find a copy for sale on Ebay, or try your local comic book shop, they could use the business.

How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

For those who have read Blade Squadron, what do you think of it?

Never heard of it until now. What's it about?

Yeah, I read somewhere that it was the actual first bit of the new canon. Made me want to run to the store and look for an Insider.

Just finished reading both parts of Blade Squadron.

It's a nice safe story that doesn't draw upon any of the expanded universe and tells the tale of a somewhat important B-Wing squadron during the attack on the second Death Star.

I liked it.

It's a short story that appeared in Star Wars: Insider magazine a month or so back.

According to Lucasfilm, it's the very first story in the brand new unified canon, putting it ahead of all of the upcoming novels and everything, so it's definitely worth tracking down a copy of the magazine for a look at how the new in-canon stuff will play out, more or less.

Well, I read the story. Not going to give away any spoilers, just my opinion.

It's okay. Just okay. Not good, not bad, simply okay. Kinda dry, kinda boring, but okay nevertheless.

Truth be told, I'm just not interested in this side of the SW Universe. Aside from the tired, worn out "Jedi vs. Sith" BS, I prefer the supernatural/paranormal aspect of the universe; reading prose* about ordinary fighter pilots doing barrel rolls in B-wings ... well ... it simply doesn't catch my fancy all that much.

*These stories work better for me in comic book format.

How do you feel the events of the story having happened in the same universe as the movies?

Well, the story doesn't feel like it doesn't take place in the same universe as the films, and it doesn't devalue anything from the films; it's just sort of there.
