Actually laserdiscs may not have macrovision but they do have some kind of copy protection because if I hook my laserdisc player straight into my stand alone DVD recorder and try to record Star Wars (faces edition) the picture gets bright and then dim until I put a magical device between them to correct this. VHS tapes also do this, I think it is called copyguard.
