The thread where we make enemies out of friends, aka the abortion debate thread — Page 36

That's odd because a unicorn's horn is on it's head, not between it's legs.  The rider would only have a horse between their legs as the horn is still on the horses head.

I'm confused.

When one rides a unicorn (and I speak from experience) each leg is either side of the neck of the beast, the horn is therefore between ones legs.

The neck of the "beast" as you called it is between their legs, the horn is still on the horses head.  And if I'm not mistaken, the unicorn would only use it's horn in defense, never to harm.

Nah, that thread is about comparisons between pouring bleach on someone and disagreeing with parts of the Bible.  Unicorn discussion is perfect here.

You're probably right.  Did you know that as unicorns were nearing extinction, one final female was pregnant with twins.  Then she got an abortion.  Now there are no more :(

I thought goblins killed the last male unicorn before he could impregnate the last female unicorn. *shrugs*

Actually, we ate unicorns to extinction because they're so insanely tasty.  But the Meat Lobby buried that fact.

Ah yes, now I remember.  The line of Kellogg's Unicorn Flakes.  Unicorn on the cob.  Unicorn bread (very popular in the South).  Unicornish hen (I always wondered how that was possible).  All were very good.

Too right, Unicorn-incest* should never be allowed.

(*I'm 96% sure that isn't a thrash-Metal group from Leeds).

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

I guarantee you there a are people out there that would be more than willing to pour bleach(or worse) on Christians.

bigotry can be a two way street.   I think that was the pont of the comparison.

It was indeed.  You were the only one to understand the comparison.

JEDIT:

Apparently I have to clarify for those who want to psychoanalyze every typed letter, apostrophe, and alternate Thesaurus style but non-existent and assumed points of view.

If there were such people they wouldn't be inspired by generations of homosexuals putting bleach or worse into the eyes of Christians. Or by 'holy texts' written in the name of homosexuality advocating such. If they were I for one as a member of that group call for such texts to be banned as hate literature.

So I had intended to post this reply earlier than this but due to a strange set of circumstances when I would try there'd be an error page instead. Then I eventually lost much motivation to post it. So now I'm finally getting around to posting it so that I don't think about it at all during my three week break from threads here.

------------------
Alright so, I've read the posts and I could respond to each point and we could keep going back and forth on this issue but I think it's better if I just bow out of this discussion.

It's just that the part of the thread title "thread where we make enemies out of friends" just becomes more and more likely to happen the longer this discussion drags out. Everything here just seems to be getting more and more personal. I also feel dragged into the discussion of personhood which isn't something that I wanted to discuss anyway. I just wanted to mention something that bothered me about the whole personhood issue and let that be that. I didn't intend to go on a several page debate about it. (And the constant analogy with cake batter that's supposed to clarify things really doesn't help. That's still not cake so I don't know why it keeps being brought up.)

Further I only started posting in this thread again because I saw an analogy that seemed to completely ignore the health risks of pregnancy. I just didn't want those risks to be ignored.

All that said, I think it's better that this discussion end as amicably as possible.
-----------------------

That's roughly what I wanted to post much earlier than this. Course since I took a while to post that this thread has turned into a discussion on unicorns...

Well, maybe the cake batter analogy was a bad one.

Driving into work this morning, going 65 mph on a freeway, I saw about 15 giant graphic anti-abortion posters on the overpass that I had to go under.  I practically crashed my car from surprise, disgust, and rage.

I refuse to call these people pro-life when they are so unconcerned about protecting the life driving under them.

The idea is to show what happens to aborted babies, to motivate people to stop aborting them, but it is insensitive to those who oppose abortion, or think it should be very limited.

Author

It is?

Well then it's insensitive to everyone who isn't a lunatic, because it's certainly insensitive to those who support the right to an abortion.  It's also insensitive to children, and to people who don't care either way and just want to get where they're going without being assaulted by gruesome images.

So everyone who doesn't suppost the right to an abortion is a lunatic?  that's insensitive.

I certainly understand agree with this.

The idea is also to get people who don't care either way to care. Abortion is an unfortunate atrocity and people too often ignore the reality of it. They should really put those things up at abortion centres, though, not where everyone is forced to see it.
