I appreciate the great man and his artistry but not fanatically so.
The box set looks nice. SHOUT sounds like it should be an OT release variant :-D
And, naturally, the very first screenshot is this one:
Because that's how you want to showcase a "Legacy Collection" boxset, obviously.
Bruce Lee's face looks pasted on!
My curiosity got the better of me.

It is. I'm not kidding:

That's how you make a Bruce Lee movie when you don't have Bruce Lee. He managed to shoot some footage for his next movie (you can find 40 minutes of it on youtube - it's really good) before his death, the studio took it, cast an unconvincing stand-in, re-used bits from his other movies and pasted his face wherever they could to make it seem legit. If it sounds like an abomination that's because it is one.
Oh, and then they made a "sequel", which, admittedly, isn't quite as scummy as the first one.
Apparently the master that Fortune Star gave them, in their continued mission to fuck up releases of all Hong Kong films made after the Shaw Brothers, were bad upscales. Being an HK fan sucks almost as much as being a Star Wars fans, releases are so fucked up.

They issued Blu-ray replacements so this is a non issue now.
Yeah, now we only need properly master HD Blu-ray of pretty much every other Hong Kong film from 1970 forward. Fortune Star have done almost nothing but hack jobs, Kam and Ronson are upscales, and don't even get me started on the endless downmixes masquerading as original mono which is evidently too hard to put on there.

You're not a cat, Ryan.
