UPDATE

Feel free to PM if you’d like a copy; I’ll do my best to accommodate requests for physical DVDs (easiest for US users). Per forum rules, no trade, no sale, for SWAoC owners only.

END UPDATE

Hey, all. First-time poster, sometime lurker.

I’m pleased to announce the completion of “Star Wars: Rendezvous at Kazook.” For this project, I merged two films that richly deserve each other: “Attack of the Clones” and “The Star Wars Holiday Special.” Relive the experience of watching one of the worst big-budget science fiction films ever made in a way you thought nobody would bother to provide.

The main challenge in editing was to ameliorate the jarring difference in audio and visual quality between the two original films. A process of ‘dehancement,’ or ‘crapulation,’ was used on SWAoC footage. This involved carefully converting the film to the SWHS aspect ratio and making it non-anamorphic. From here, additional blurring and color correction (typically to red) produced the visually unsatisfying style necessary to make the sources fit together. The SWAoC audio was reduced to a mono channel with a poor sampling rate.

PLOT:

A Wookiee cult on the mysterious world of Kazook needs “fresh blood, and especially midi-chlorians.” Its members believe a certain senator from Naboo stands in the way of their plans. After a pair of assassination attempts, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi investigates. Kenobi’s apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, must protect the senator at all costs. Special appearance by Jefferson Starship. Akin to comedy.

FEATURES:

  • Every musical number from SWHS appears in full, with the opening title crawl set to Carrie Fisher’s finale.

  • References to Count Dooku and the “Clone Army” have been removed; the Camino scenes still appear.

  • References to Chewbacca, the Empire and the Rebellion do not appear in the main body of the film.

  • SWAoC plot truncated pretty severely. I’d say the same about the SWHS plot, but there wasn’t one.

  • Other dialogue was modified for flow and continuity.

  • Includes all-new Wookiee subtitles.

  • Special cameo by cartoon Boba Fett.

  • Special cameo by Dexter Jettster’s non-keyed-in version.

  • Wipes.

  • There might be a “Special Edition” eventually. It would be exactly the same, except with commercials.

RUNTIME: 94 minutes.

SOURCES:

  • “Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.” 2002 full-screen DVD release. Includes footage from the special features documentary concerning the CGI effects.

  • SWHS. This particular version isn’t difficult to find. I think part of it is a recording of the Baltimore broadcast. There’s at least one shot of the Millennium Falcon from “Star Wars” that was re-used in SWHS.

EDITING SOFTWARE:

Lightworks. This was my first try at video editing, so getting the hang of everything took a little time. I’m satisfied with the program overall.

OTHER:

I haven’t decided exactly how (or if) this will be distributed. I’ll certainly be looking into posting a sample of some kind. That being said, feel free to PM if you’re interested in seeing this edit.
