Dooku revealing Sidious to Obi-Wan

Author

When Dooku has Obi-Wan captured in EpII, he tells Obi-Wan about Sidious.  I've never understood why, curious what others thoughts are on it.

I believe in an attempt to convince Obi-Wan to join him to defeat a larger evil (Sidious).

Much like Vader used a similar tactic with Luke on Cloud City, trying to convince the younger Skywalker to join him in order to destroy the Emperor and end the Galactic Civil War.

If only Dooku has been genuinely opposed to Sidious instead of being his undercover Smithers. He would have made for a far better, far more complex, character.

Totally agree. Would have loved to have seen Dooku not even know he was a Sith; like an undercover cop gone dark.

Maybe have it so the Jedi sent him out to sniff out potential Sith but they lose contact with him, and then just abandon him out there, claiming he "left" but basically just giving him up for dead, which would account for Dooku's dislike of the Jedi and his want to destroy Sidious.

The fan edit threads are full of ideas like that.

Duke Dooku warning the council about something serious happening on the outer rim and the council sending his pupil 'Quiggly John' to a noble double-end.

The Separatists as greedy chancers all conned into getting themselves kicked out the Republic rather than opting to leave and rallying to Dooku for sympathy.

The official version is both confusing and boring at the same time.

There's two possible reasons for Dooku revealing Sidious to Obi-Wan:

1. Dooku wanted Obi-Wan to become his apprentice.

2. Dooku wanted to destroy the Sith from within with Obi-Wan's help.

^ I shall now consider these to be the lyrics to the theme 'song' of Doctor Who.

 "Every time"?

This would appear to be only the second appearance of his True Name--the first being when I christened him like three days ago.

Do you just read my posts over and over?

Can't say I blame you.  I would too.

It's been referenced in off-topic as a potential lurker name as well.

And yes. Every. Time.

Off topic?

Never been there, based on a warning a teacher gave me once.

Something about a "hive of scum and villainy" IIRC...
