Truth be told, while I do like the design of that gate, I feel it looks a little too ornate in comparison with its surroundings.
I wonder what the Episode VII trailer is going to look like I say it might look like this it is a bit old school to play a trailer with the classic Star Wars music although the link on top is the Episode II Darth Vader breathing teaser trailer something like that would be fine or if it is the Into Darkness style trailer that would go back on what is said it may have a little bit of darkness.

Lupita Nyongo, long rumored, and Gwendoline Christie, have joind the cast.
F**K YES!!!
Lupita Nyong'o was so good in '12 Years a Slave' and Gwendoline Christie is hands down the best thing about 'Game of Thrones'. Somebody already gave her a Lightsaber a year ago ;-)...
Great! Maybe now people will stop whinging about whatever females/minorities quota they feel the need to foist onto everything!

Maybe it's the gate to an as-yet unseen (possibly digital) ornate palace?

Nice to see at least part of the Falcon again. :-) Is that an X-wing I see? I'm curious to see what new ships they introduce.
The two different angles of the X-wing make me wonder if it's more of a 2D background prop to be seen from on angle only. The first picture looks normal, but the second... something is off, it looks smushed.
Just me? Anyone? No? Mom?

It might be fun to have the Falcon do the trick of flying on it's side but with the cockpit section rotated as per the early designs. They seem to have plundered the early concept art for much of the inspiration of what we have seen.
Yeah, one of those is probably a 2D background ship. There were similar ones made for the rebel hangar scene in the original film. :)

Yeah, that was my reasoning.
Looking at it, though, there are a lot of differences between the old T-65s and what this may be. Though it's obviously not complete, it looks far different enough to be a new model which could account totally for it looking "weird" to me.

I'm fine with the slightly different X wing,.....different T-model,.....things evolve,....The Falcon looks the same....phew,.....well painted & weathered
J
Just thinking,...will JJ follow the embarking crew up the ramp & into the interior of the Falcon,....hes done something like that on the Enterprise?.....followed actors through huge sets of the ship......(though not to the brewery)
I hope the Falcon isnt 80% scale,....like the OT
J
I hope none of the ugly fighters from the PT make an appearance.
Thing is, "80% to scale" is maybe what we are used to seeing and correcting it on the prop would just make Harrison Ford walking up the ramp look "80% to scale".
VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

They could have put some battered old Naboo fighters in the SE's but didn't. I think they are long gone.

I wouldn't begrudge a museum scene with some PT craft in.
And the museum curator is an old Naboo pilot who catches on pretty quick? ;)

Hm, I think Ric Olie fits that description pretty well. They should use Ric Olie as the curator!

Incongruity happens :
Maybe the Millennium Falcon will pop out with a secret compartment mini ship just like the original Kenner toy.

Wasn't Jabba Stuart Freeborn's baby? In the old documentaries, it doesn't appear Jabba is being made at ILM with the other aliens.
Jabba was made separately because they pretty much had to turn an entire room into a kiln to bake the molds.

Actually, it was the more recent larger Hasbro version that introduced that feature. The idea of a smaller ship aboard the Falcon did figure into the plot of The Wookiee Storybook, published in 1978.

That NEEDS to be in the new movie.
Hell, that needs to be in EVERY movie!

Yes, I know. If you see that footage in the documentary, it looks like Jabba was made in the UK. Freeborn is even wearing winter clothing that looks a bit severe for Northern California. You don't see him in any of the ILM footage.
