Every step a animal goes up on the trophic scale requires ten times as much energy. The amount of energy, land, pollution, and water that goes into creating beef to eat is approximately 10 times as high as if we had used that land for plant-based food.

In a world of growing population and shrinking resources I wish that was a debate we were mature enough to have.
