Info: Star Wars unseen - to find all deleted scenes from all 6 Saga movies

Hi guys & gals,

I’ve been working for some time now on a little personal preservation. The goal is/was to

  • find all deleted scenes from all 6 movies (my main source were the bluray set, the Making of ebooks and a couple of trailers)

  • try to find out “where” do they belong in the movie

  • edit them in such a way, that they have a proper beginning and ending taken from the corresponding movie

Sometimes the new scenes are just 1-2 minutes long, but sometimes they’re seriously long.

This is an example of what I’m talking about, a 23:50 long scene temporarily called simply “Hoth”. If you wanna check it out, here’s a quick 720p encode presented in a 758,2 MB mkv file : http://jyh0tue68f.1fichier.com/ - it’s one of my favourite sequences, because it tries to integrate the deleted wampa subplot back to the finished scenes.

There is no cleanup being done on the deleted scenes, so you will find it’s sometimes dirty, full of scratches, it sometimes misses dialogue and/or music, and almost always it misses special effects. The “only” thing I’ve done is I ran the footage (both the bluray rip and the deleted scenes) through an automatic color correction, to match the deleted scenes better with the surrounding footage. I’m not sure yet if I keep the “new” colours or if I keep the “old” colours, both colours are annoying 😃

The result will be encoded as 6 folders full of chronologically ordered mkv files, and MAYBE a Bluray (if I find out how to do it - I’ve never authored a BD before). As usually, I am doing it for MYSELF. But if somebody else is interested in this too, let me know and one day the result will magically appear “somewhere” 😃

Just check the Hoth sequence on 1fichier.com and let me know if this is interesting also for somebody else than me 😃

That sounds very cool. I'd be interested, though personally I'd prefer the OT scenes to be separate from the PT scenes. I don't know whether that's feasible for you.

I'm not sure what you mean. Every movie will have its separate "folder" including the scenes only to that specific movie. If I do the blus, I will maybe do a separate blu for the prequels and a separate disc for the OT.

So any comments to the sample vid? Or is it too big for downloads? :-)

Yup, that's exactly what I was hoping you'd say ;)

I didn't have the chance to grab it yet, because my connection is crap, but I'll be doing so shortly. I'll definitely get back to you.

I was thinking about it. I'm even thinking about cropping the whole footage to 2.35

A slightly re-cut version of the same sequence, this time without the "black" bars and resized to DVD dimensions to make the file smaller

http://90wgp2w6aa.1fichier.com/

Just 195MB this time.

The full 1080p encode has now pure black bars

i have done this with EP IV.

the special edition was my source.

i put all scenes in i can find.

i do no clean up,color correction, sound, and so far...

there are more sources as you say.

many in behind the scenes or making of´s when you watch closely.

don´t forget the empire of dreams disc.

watch star wars begins, building empire or returning to jedi.

or here:

http://starwarz.com/starkiller/

the adigitalman edition EP I-III got all deleted scenes in the movie (or most).

Well these sites are not always 100% correct. E.g. I noticed one strange thing in Empire - during the "hospital" scene Leia originally said that general whatshisname thinks it's not safe for any ship to leave the system UNTIL THEY FOUND OUT WHERE DID THE PROBE COME FROM, to which Luke reacts with his surprised "What probe ?". Which means that originally this scene was in the movie AFTER Han & Chewie destroyed the probe droid, however in the finished cut the order of these scenes is reversed. And I found tons of these little things on all 6 movies, which are not captured anywhere.

So JD's and OCP's work are not 100% reliable on this, even though I love these docus very much.

I have also ADM's extended prequels, but he used only the scenes which can be found on the DVDs, the BDs have lots of previously unseen scenes

maybe you find some informations here:

http://starwars.rossiters.com/index.html

do you clean up,color corrected, add sound and spfx to your deleted scenes?

The rossiters site is one of my favourites :-)

Unfortunately no, I'm not doing any cleanup or effects, just the editing

So right now Empire is finished for the time being, the content will be

1) Attack of the Wampas - 27:04

- imperial probe droid killing a wampa after arriving on the planet

- Wampa attacks Luke and kills his tauntaun (extended)

- Han arriving in the hangar (alternate from trailer)

- Chewie arguing with Han in English (from ebooks)

- Han and Leia argue at the corridor (extended with 2 new scenes)

- medical droid examining a dead wampa (photos + script excerpts)

- Luke escaping from the Wampa (extended/alternate)

- Han rescues Luke ("alternate" audio - "shelter up")

- Wampas attack the base (reedit of deleted scenes from bluray)

- Luke in bacta tank (extended)

- Han and Chewie destroying the probe droid (moved earlier as was originally planned)

- Luke and Leia at the hospital (extended / alternate)

2) Attack on the rebel base - 1:31

- death of General Veers (?)

- Han rescues Leia (extended / alternate)

- troopers enter the base, killed by Wampas

3) Landing on Dagobah - 1:28

- did anybody else ever notice the moon/planet in the bottom right corner when Falcon enters the space slug? I never noticed it till now!

- Luke's landing on Dagobah (extended / alternate)

4) Repairing the Falcon - 3:07

- Han and Leia repairing the Falcon (re-edited deleted scenes from the bluray)

- first kiss (alternate black & white take)

5) Jedi training - 1:11

- cutting the bar in several parts (multiple takes edited together)

6) Escape from Cloud City - 1:15

- with the help of a certain "Lobot" (extended)

7) Luke and Leia on the Falcon - 1:30

- Leia takes care about Luke and they talk about Boba Fett (alternate / extended)

If somebody else has better titles for the "sequences" let me know :-)

Off to Jedi, the attack on the DS will be quite problematic

Which "wampa pull luke scene" do you mean? I've seen various shots of the guy pulling Luke but it was always from a documentary and the crew was always visible. Do you have a "clean" version without the film crew?

"Luke's longer runaway" - please check my sample I uploaded

"more scenes from prepare for the battle of hoth?

the boba fett watching scene?

the deleted lando scenes?" - not sure what do you mean with these 3

"luke bacta mask?" - I have included the 2 seconds long shot from the end credits of Empire of Dreams, and the sickbay scene from the bluray (+ a few deleted lines from the ebook). Is there more? I know about 2 pics from the "droid picks up the bacta mask" scene, but both of them feature the director

"lukes escape from hoth" - again, not sure what you mean

Is somebody here interested in seing the extended ending of ROTJ? It is 43:28 long!

It has all story lines - the Emperor and Vader trying to bring Luke to the dark side (extended with bits from various documentaries), Jerjerrod's conflict scenes, the battle for the bunker (extended and re-edited), battle between robots and teddy bears (extended with bits from various documentaries & the blooper reel), the space battle (extended with previously unused rebel shots taken both from the BD and the ebook and new scenes inside the Death Star), and of course ending with the original cut and the song Yub Nub, or more precise "Freedom" .

A 416MB 720x304 encode can be found here : http://vyx75m9vif.1fichier.com/
