It could be that it's a Vong from an invasion that happened a decade or so ago...it could be a rogue Vong.
That would allow the fans of that arc to keep it but not have to adapt the content of it.

Any social media whether tweets or facebook will probably be false leads from the studio. The modern day Blue Harvest.
?
A month in and we already have official information on the location shooting, pictures of the studio, pictures of the entire cast in a read-through, a picture of Chewie on-set from the CEO of Disney, a letter from the director, two videos from the director - one with the screenwriter - one from the set, and most likely a few bits that have slipped past me.
On the contrary, I feel like Abrams has gone out of his way to let people know what's happening. He also seems to be deliberate in helping fans, particularly of the OT, feel included and welcome.
Lucas went out of his way to shun the original fans, to the point of being deliberately hateful and disrespectful. Abrams appears to be trying to heal decades of Lucas' mental abuse.
This isn't even close to Blue Harvest.
Let's not confuse Lucas' treatment of OOT fans with the actual production of ROTJ.
Blue Harvest was an attempt to keep filming locations from being mobbed, keep the paparazzi away, and also to keep local merchants from price gouging. Imagine what they would charge for food and lodging, if someone let slip they were filming a Star Wars movie down the road! ;)
And the resourceful fans who found the Jabba's Barge set in Yuma were not chased away. The sight of Luke, dressed all in black, set off a wave of wild speculation that he was going to join up with dear old dad.
The original fan club sold Blue Harvest hats and t shirts for years afterward.
There was a live webcam that allowed glimpses of what was going down on the Episode III set. That was all archived on the official site for a time. It would be nice if they did something like that again.
I totally agree J.J. and company are rolling out the welcome mat, and what I've seen so far makes me feel pretty good about Star Wars. That hasn't happened in a long time.

*sigh* One incredibly grainy, unclear photo of someone in Halloween makeup, and people begin jumping around in panic that the goddamn Yuuzhan Vong are going to be the villains of the ST.
For a second I thought you guys were talking about this, which is the only other EU I've read besides the Thrawn Trilogy. It's also amazingly terrible IIRC.
^A film adaptation of the JAT could be good if all the stupid aspects of the storyline were removed. I don't believe the same could be said for the New Jedi Order storyline, though.

Agree 100% And thanks for the clarification. I should have been more clear. I was speaking more of the difference between the way Abrams includes fans in general vs the way Lucas seemed almost to resent fans. It came across as production-based because that's all we have from Abrams at this point.
This one is titled "Star Wars: Episode 7′ Set Photos: AT-ATs on Tatooine!"
"As you may have heard, ‘Star Wars: Episode 7‘ will be filming in Abu Dhabi for a few months this summer, as the UAE capital stands in for Tatooine, the home planet of Luke Skywalker..." NEWS STORY and HERE

According to this article, http://www.starwars7news.com/2014/05/spoilers-stunt-video-with-daisy-ridley.html#more, the stunt video and picture of Ray Park aren't related to the film. But the darkside creature photo could be legit. The article also says Rey-Phillip Santos may have been fired due to the leak.

Another supposed set photo...
Very interesting. A Tusken Raider camp in the ruins of an old homestead? I see some vaporators.

My first thought as well. Very Tusken-looking.
Keep Circulating the Tapes.

(It hasn’t happened yet)
I thought we were done with Tatooine. =(
As we don't know how big a part it plays in the movie, why worry? Maybe Luke went back to live there, and other characters go looking for him.

Interestingly... the article has been removed from the site. It was also at starwars7news.com, but is no longer there, either.
Because apparently instead of being the planet farthest from the center of the universe it apparently is the center of the universe.
^My thoughts exactly. If it's so remote, why is it so important?
It's the center of the Skywalker universe*. Last time I checked Luke was from the family Skywalker and he is in the new film.
Padme and Co just happening to land on Tatooine in the PT is universe shrinkage... Luke returning to Tatooine in the ST is just continuing the story.
(*and the center of Han's universe too. So it's 200% the center of Leia's universe LOL)
Now, if a totally unrelated set of new characters in the ST also happen to be from Tatooine, then you've got a point.
VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.
His entire life Luke wanted to escape that planet. And after seeing the people who raised him brutally murdered there, he swore he'd never return. Only to be forced to in order to save Han.
So deciding to retire there doesn't make a lot of sense for him. So if that's the reason we go back there it's incredibly weak and a sign of lazy writing.

Agree 100%, that would make no sense. But Luke returning to get something important from Kenobi's house (For example) might be fantastic.

I don't mind seeing Tatooine again but it would be nice to see some "mentioned-only" planets from OT such as Corellia, Dantooine, Kessel etc.
真実
Corellia would make sense, but I would like to see mostly completely new planets, aside from Coruscant.

A lot can change in thirty years, including Luke's mindset. If one is going to isolate themselves and commune with the Force, it's a slightly better place than Dagobah, and there's civilization around if one craves company.
If Obi Wan left something important there, it had better be well hidden, as his house was probably looted long ago.

Not something like that. I grew up in the desert and if circumstances arose where I could leave I would not miss it.
If this is about making him a hermit than let's see someplace new. There's an entire galaxy out there and we just keep ending up on the same wretched ball of dust.
It's all speculation until we see something more. Your guess is as good as mine. ;)

Tatooine is just about the last place I want to revisit, for all the points already mentioned.
"...this is the planet it's farthest from". Unless Lucas gets writer's block.
However, at this stage we don't know what they have planned. With any luck, if we have to see it -yet again- hopefully it will be a ten minute revisit early on to go get Luke out of some sort of self-imposed exile and then we leave it behind forever.
