Why is it that only films made from the mid-to-late '60s through to the '70s, '80s, and even '90s are ever criticized for having "dated" elements, but movies made in the early '60s, '50s, '40s, '30s, etc. never are? How are men in fedoras and housewives in dresses who say things like "swell" and "keen" any more timeless than guys with long sideburns and women with big hair who say things like "groovy" or "tubular"?
